Default New to pattern

Hey guys, I've decided to try my hand at pattern. I'm a big IMAC guy and flew in the Advanced class and I would like to know what class I should start at. I was also wondering which plane you guys favor the most, and where to get the patterns, and contest information.
thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the world of Pattern. Since you have flown IMAC I would say start in Intermediate and go from there. as far as planes take your pick the focus is a good starter plane and can take you through advanced with no problem. NC was a big pattern place at one time and still have some great contest. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will do what I can to help out.

Hey Kyle,

As Todd stated the Focus is hard to beat as an entry level pattern plane. From there, ask questions, do your research and go from there.

NC is growing fast again. I know there are some very active pattern pilots in Winston; not sure about Fayetteville. Download the schedule and start practicing. Check the NSRCA site and the NSRCA D2 site and pick your first contest...and go. From there, the chips will fall into place.

I agree, start in intermediate. Begin working on centering and box management and keeping the lines parallel at about 150-160 meters. Just do that and you'll have a nice head start!

Here's where you'll find the schedule.

In Pattern we only change the schedule every two years, not every year like IMAC, so the '07 runs through '09.

http://www.nsrca.org/scheduleA.htm

Here's where you can find the Aresti drawings for the current Pattern schedules, thanks to Troy Newman.

thanks alot,

Yes, the Aresti is the diagram of the schedule, both are descriptions of the current maneuvers.
