I've been reading for weeks, still can't decide which Edge 540 to get for a 50cc engine.
What are the top 2 or 3 Edge 540's out there? |

Wild Hare Rc. Is what I would chose. Very nice plane. Can stand up to heavy aerobatics or be tonned down for a nice sport flyer. Great gasser.

Air Wild Edge 540 is an awesome flying plane for the 50CC class. Extremely light weight and awesome performer. If built according to Air Wilds recommendations it comes in just under 15 lbs!

Don't forget the BME/PAU Edge. I think it's better suited to a 60cc engine, but it's still in that same class and size. I have one of the original V1 from way, way, way, way back. Still in the box.

I've got the BME V3 Edge 540 with a BME 50cc in it and really like it. It's not a rocketship, but pulls out of a hover with no problems at all. Plus it's really fun to fly!

I have the BME (PAU) Edge V2. Love it. Two years old, lots of flying time on it. I had to upgrade the landing gear, wheels and, wheel pants. I prolly will retire it this winter. So many new planes out there.

I have flown both the airwild and the wildhare edges both are very good planes with the air wild being the lighter plane and an absolute blast to fly. However I liked the wildhare better I felt much more comfortable with it and was more stable in 3D flight.

I'm kinda new to gasser's. I fly primarily profile birds now and have wanted to get into a gas plane to do some 3d with. Bought the Hangar 9 27% Extra 260 and have been a bit disappointed with it so far. Mostly because of the snapping tendencies when you have more than about 20 degrees of elevator on the airframe. Tried a friends PAU 30% Yak54 and it did the same thing though not nearly as aggressively. Am I just being unrealistic in thinking I can find an airplane that I can setup with 40-60 degrees of elevator throw and then just fly it like a profile bird - full elevator for waterfalls and such without having it snap out?
I read somewhere that the Edge wing with the straight leading edge is much more stable and I was sorta hoping that Either the PAU or Air Wild Edge 540's might not snap with high rate elevator input... I get nervous doing 3d moves down low when the plane drops a wingtip on me unexpectedly when I pull a wall, waterfall, etc. Been looking pretty hard at the Air Wild Edge due to it's lightweight, good reviews, and wing loading being a bit less than the PAU Edge. Anybody got any input on the elevator throws for me? |

NO, you are not being unrealistic. Extreme Flight RC makes the 88 inch Yak and Extra and they fly 3D very well.. Full throw wall's, Parachutes are not a problem and inspire confidence. Real 3D Viagra. |

I fly the PAU 30% Edge VII and you can't get it to stall! In fact, it seems that is one of the Edge's downfalls when it comes to flying IMAC is you have to MAKE it stall by inducing some rudder, and only the best can do that and not have the judges notice.
I think every individual plane needs to be set up properly to fly to your style. I don't think it is realistic to just MAX out the throw and not to expect the unexpected. The PAU Edge is a blast to fly and will 3D with the best of em! Good luck on your decision!! Regards, Astrohog |

I have flown a friends Wildhare Edge V2 and it is a fantastic flying plane harriers are effortless just give it elevator and drive it around no wing rock either. Parachutes are just as easy and yes it uses full throw with no tendency to snap out. It did everything I threw at it with ease. I am looking at the new 35% edge when it comes out it will be a tossup between that and the PAU 35% edge for me.
