What are the real world weights of the Wild Hare coming in at? I'm planning on a Venom 45cc engine for it, it's about 3-4 oz lighter than a DA-50, so I'm hoping for an all up weight of around 15-15.5lbs with it. I think I've just about decided on the Wild Hare... now to sell off my H9 27% Extra 260 airframe...

I'd go with the Precision Aerobatics Edge. It doesn't look super awesome but it's rock solid from what i've seen.

My wet weight at take-off is about an ounce over 18 pounds with the 3MM 53cc in it and 24 ounces of gas. Plane really flies well with that engine though. Just put a Bowman ring in it so I have to break that in again. Also just put a Graphtech main gear on as the stock gear was a little light IMHO. Plane is as stable as a rock in the air. Go with 5985s on the elevator and ailerons and a 5955 on the rudder and it will fly great. I built mine with the 5645s and the darn things wouldn't center so they've been replaced with 5985s. I also have CF tubes front and back.

I'd recommend the PA Edge, beautiful flier. I'm about to buy a second one, for reasons I'd rather not got into further than to say it was my fault I need to buy another one. For me, no choice but the PA version.

Well I ordered the PAU/BME Edge uncovered so I can put my own colors on it.
I have the Airwild Extra 260, it is a great flyer and light weight but I don't care for the way the Extras snap out of hard elevator input. |

with your motor combo you can easy get the plane at 15-15.5 lbs. i ahd a bme 50 in mine and it was prettty close to 15-16 lbs. which is real light.

Congratulations on your order, Chris. I think you'll love the PAU bird; they are light and don't have any bad habits.

Chris, you made a great choice.I have the version 3 and it's a blast to fly.For a 50cc size aircraft this thing is rock solid. In fact I've entered the wall at almost full throttle and it didn't even drop a wing!Try that with a Extra or one of them round cowled Yaks.
What engine are you going to install in the nose? Good luck with the Edge!

Just peel the rainbows off & trace their outline on Blue Ultrakote. I did that to mine & it looks tons better! No need to re-cover the whole plane

I have a DL-50 that is going in it. I've had the engine in a TOC Yak but couldn't get the thing to balance, too tail heavy, The Yak flew and balanced great with the old BME 50.
The DL has only had maybe a gallon of gas through it so it is still new yet. Runs very good, I seem to get the same numbers as the BME or DA guy's do with the same props. I should have it Monday. I'm thinking of covering it with Yellow, Red, Silver, and Black. I made up some A123 batteries that I'm going to try out. I'm thinking 2 batt's 2 switches, and I may run the ignition off of them also with a separate switch. I think I've read somewhere that guy's are doing it that way with good luck. I also have a Futaba FGH 72 MHz coming from Tower. Looking forward to the upgrade from the 9c I have now. |

Chris,I recovered my PAU Edge this winter in the Pip Borrman Castrol Aviator scheme and when I get the finishing touches done I'll post it on this thread.
This is a great flying plane but the stock color scheme definitely needs some attention. If you look on most of the threads about this plane you'll find most people removed the rainbow stripes and replaced them with something else.As mentioned these stripe peel off with ease.

Got the plane today in excellent shape. They even threw in a cool BME aircraft hat, COOL.
It didn't come with any of the control horns, tank, or ball links though. I was thinking that it would come with the control horn assemblies, just not the gold ones like the EDGE 3 has. Anyway, no biggie, I'm very happy with the plane. All the glue joints, wood, and fiberglass are in great shape and it doesn't look like it will need much if any touch up work before finishing. |

Sounds good, Chris. PAU does sell the gold hardware kit for 50cc separately if you want to use that hardware.

I bought a 30% PAU Edge 540 last year and I was amazed on how well it flies.I never really cared for the factory color scheme and I saw that many people were just pealing the rainbow stripes off.I thought that a plane that flies as good as this one deserves a better color scheme so this is what I came up with over the winter.
