VDL M4 is in the VHF band and will not interfere with any 2.4Ghz systems. Also, it is limited use by the airlines in Europe and Russia.

Oh I know that, I was talking about the actual technology. There are some implementation details that could be useful for RC radio systems.

Here it is guys, I gave the kids a few dollars to go buy an ice-cream and found the time I needed.

Enjoy it guys, I dont intend to do much more with this as I think the story is pretty clear without beating a dead horse any more.

Results were what I expected to happen. Thank you very much for all the time and effort put into this testing.

Thanks Kiwi,

I am currently using ASSAN in a pretty benign 2.4 environment with mostly EP foamies. I am also using a X8R7L with the long antenna on a 0.25ci slimer. So far, no issues that can be directly attributed to the radio.

It's good to know what I am getting into anyway, but since ASSAN did not not make any wild claims, I cannot fault them for anything.

Exactly, Assan neither claimed to have invented some kind of super-monopole-antenna, nor did they claim to hop when they don't.

The problem is that if you don't hop, it's worse flying 2.4GHz than 35 MHz (I'm in europe) because that frequency is reserved for RC - 2.4GHz isn't.

Thank you Kiwi for all the time and effort!

People like you make theis hobby wonderful!

Should you once consider doing tests on Fasst and Spektrum swamping large sections of the band, you could put Fasst in "France mode". This way, it will use less channels, and make it easier to swamp the part of the band it uses.

Cheers,

Julian

Thanks very much, Kiwi. That's all I need to know. Pretty easy to judge systems now with this excellent info. Anyone who has an expensive plane bite the dust because they chose to ignore this evidence deserves all they get.

Thanks Kiwi, that is just what we all suspected to be the results I think, did you by chance put the Spektrum flight logger on the Rx after the test? it would be interesting to see the frame drop outs on each aerial, just a thought.

I flew a heli on an infra red guidance system and there was no interference- but the tv changed channels
what is rong?

Kiwi you've done great work. Thank you.

I figured there was something screwy with XPS from the day I got it. I was one of the first people to buy it.

I hooked it up on my kitchen counter with one servo and a freshly charged pack and it started pulsing the servo. I put it in my 33% H9 Cap and things got weirder, like pulsing rudder, uncommanded control inputs and no response at all even with green lights on transmitter module and receiver.

Jim Drew and the other XPS forum people told me my 9Z was the problem. I figured that was nonsense which proved to be true. I put a Spektrum module in my 9Z and it has worked perfectly with Spektrum ever since.

Here are some short, entertaining videos of that bizarre XPS behavior:
