Default 2008 Point Series Challenge

Pilots,

Below is the link to our new rules that we will be using for 2008. The IMAC Board has agreed that it is time we standardize our point series through out all of our regions. Our 2008 contest season is less than a month away and should be a really great year for all of you.

Wishing all of you a warm holiday season.

See you on the flight line

Couple of questions.....

"For the purpose of Regional Points, if a Basic-class competitor places first, second or, third in the Regional Points, regardless if competitor has not placed in enough Basic contests to move up, the competitor will have to move to the Sportsman class in the 2008 season. In the event that the competitor doesn’t move up, any points earn in the following years will not count toward the next year’s Regional Championship."

1) Does this only pertain to Basic class or all the classes? As I thought the new rule was you must win 5 contests to be forced up a class (per AMA rules)

2) Why the force up for 2/3 places.....I know in the SW this isn't a problem because we have large turnouts but seems harsh for a low turnout region to force guys up.....even the AMA rules stipulate the number of pilots per contest for it to count toward a move up.

Just wondering. (as a note: I realize this isn't a force up or don't fly....just a force up or your points don't count)

The IMAC Board has for many months been in discussion of Standardizing our point series for all of our Regions. The bases for the change this year is to get all the regions going down the same road. This rule only applies for Basic Class. For many years the SW has been in line to include BASIC as a full out Competition Class which in some regions still use the try and see approach. The intent of the position of this move up is to protect the new pilots from getting intimidated from flying in IMAC and to prevent anyone from dominating the class. You are correct in your comment that it only effects the Regional Point Series.

SW Pilots, I just updated the SW Point series today. There will be 5 points added to your placement for each pilot you compete against in your class. The 5 points per pilots is basically there to give some balance to our smaller and larger events.

Good luck to all of you and Safe flying.
