Adam, I wondering if something has actually hit your rudder to cause the crack in both the counter ballance and hinge??? We switched from the robart style of hinges to the flat style because they were working so much better. I havent heard of the hinges being a problem and I have never seen any flight loads crack any of the counter ballances.

A fix for this might be pretty simple. I think you should be able to push the rest of the pins out of the hinge so you can remove the rudder. Then you can take your blade and cut out the hinge to install a new one.

There are a ton of the 35% yaks out there and I have never heard of this counter ballance cracking. But there are always things that can happen. Send me a email and I will see if we can get a new rudder out to you.
