Default Some cool Extreme Flight Yak and Extra Pics

These are pics of my 88" Yak..and another members 88" Extra (prototype). I also have purchased one with the same scheme...I am the first one to buy one of these as a customer. I was at Extreme Flight when they were unloading these off the truck...and into my truck..I love the Yak...but the Extra will be a nice addition to the fleet. All of my planes have are Yaks so this will be my first Extra in nearly 2 years.

I typically like 35% and 40% planes...but I am convinced that these things fly as well as any 35% plane out there and probably most 40%ers. Both Yak and Extra and absolutely amazing in 3D flight..Hi-Alpha everything is stable and predictable. The last picture is a perfect dead stick landing is it was in the air just a bit too long. Chris Hinson was at the controls for the 3D pics..and the landing..If you are going to have a plane dead stick..I cant think of anyone I would rather have at the sticks than Chris. Great flying Chris...and thanks for the best looking best flying ARFs on the planet.

The Yak is powered by a DA-50.
Extreme Composites carbon fiber tuned pipe
Servos are Hitec 5955s everywhere
Electronics A123 2300 on Spektrum AR9000 receiver no regulator (A123 Racing)
A123 1100 pack on igntion no regulator (Black and Decker VXP pack disected)
Robart 4" Aluminum P-51 wheels on the mains. A little heavier but worth it.

The Extra is powered by DA-50 with pitts style muffler
Hitec 5955s on Ailerons and Elevators
8611a on rudder
Li-pos running Spektrum AR-7000 and ignition.

The Yak looks bigger in the pics because it is taller...but the extra is a little larger everywhere else.

The aluminum gear on the Yak is very flexible. It almost appears too flexible...but I have had some not so perfect landings with it..and it absorbs the hard ones without any problems. I have seen one dead stick in a harrier from 12 feet up...land on the gear...it twisted the gear like a pretzel, but did not damage the plane at all.

Nice pics! Height aside, the proportions on the Yak still looks bigger in the pics.

These pictures pushed me over the edge. Called EF today and got mines! Blue and Yellow with the DA combo.

Making the gear soft is the best thing Chris did, it saves the fuse and many people have proven that already. I flew my friends 88" Yak the other day and loved it, it flys much bigger than it is. My yellow and blue Extra should be here this week, can't wait.

I laid eyes on the blue and yellow extra Monday. Nice Plane! The colors look even better in person. I'm waiting on the 110" yak but I could definitely see one of the 88" Extras in my garage in the near future.

Way cool side by side comparison! I for one appreciate it as I was looking hard at both these planes (along with all the rest!) to be my '08 new plane. The Yak gear looks weak and it also looks so much larger! Wow. EF planes just look more scale than the rest and I like that.

My first impression was the gear is weak. After putting about 30 flights on it...and having a few not so perfect landings...I am convinced the gear is plenty strong for this plane.

Great Pics...since EF is on such a roll, does anyone know if they are coming out with a 74" version of the Extra?

Charles, you don't have room for any more planes in your garage.

Look forward to seeing you back in Texas after your vacation. Hope you are having a good time.
