Default Ohio R/C 43% Extra 300

Guys, anybody ever build one of these beasts? I know they are all built-up construction, so I can imagine it's a tank. Also assume it has the "old school" throws on the controls. Is there a way to lighten it up?? The box says 52lbs AUW and a 160cc or bigger motor. Pretty heavy for the size I think. I have narrowed it down to this plane or an Aerotec Yak for the 212. Any thoughts are appreciated!!!
Thanks
Tom

I messed around with some Ohio rc stuff years ago and your right they are heavy and overbuilt similar to the old Lanier kits, They require big time mods to get them light. I own a 44% extra with the 212. It is 48 lbs dry with a smoke system, gobs of power at that weight. I believe Bill Hemples 52% Bipe is around 50lbs and tears out of a hover. 53lbs for a 43% with a 160 is a little heavy for that size, the 212 will pull it but you want less wing loading. Go with the Yak!!

Is that the Polish Extra that Aircraft International sold in your Avitar with the 212? I think I remember seeing it before. I would love to get one of those, unfortunately the guy doesn't make em anymore, he was allergic to epoxy

Yeah , that is the GCM extra 330s that I bought from AI. Good bird so far , I think AIRWORLD USA still carries them. You won't make the weight they say on the kit if you use the 212b4 or at least I couldn't. But it doesn't seem to matter at all, like I said, gobs of power.

He now produces all balsa kits with ABS cowls. He will be producing some 50cc kits this year.http://www.artexint.com.pl/gb_zestawy_modelarskie.html

That's too bad that they don't make this kit anymore. I better start shopping around for parts before I can't get them anymore.

Yeah all the prices are based on the EURO plus shipping. If you compare too the big painted comp-arf Yaks the price isn't that far off though. Plus it's a rare kit you don't see on this side of the pond that much wich is nice.
