New to the Gas Arena. Had a thread on 100cc engines a while back, great information. I've got a TOC Yak 54 30% now, that needs a new engine. I've seen the Evolution 58cc and the DA-50r engine. I was hoping I could get some feedback for them to see which one (or OTHER) would be better. I"m looking for Power and also economy and cost.
Thanks! |

I think a DA50 will give you lots of power on that plane plus an excellent customer service in days of need. Evolution 58 is a little more powerful and heavier not much though, I heard lots of good things on that engine also. Don't know the cost of evolution but I would personally get a DA50 because of 2 reasons:
1. Excellent,Excellent customer service that would make you feel good anytime you send your engine in. 2. It's got the highest resell value in the market in case you ever wanted to upgrade. Hope this helps

For that plane, go with the 58. You will likely need the noseweight and it will be significantly more powerful. Two guys here got 6350 RPM on a 24X10 on their first tank, running rich.

either one on that plane is great, I have the DA 50 on mine and it has lots of power but I am shure I would love the Eolution very much too, its a little more weight and TONS of power or a pound less I think and good power.

I would also check into the Kroma engines. To find more info out, check out D&R Hobbies out.

Thanks everyone,, I'll check Kroma out.. I love the support I get from Horizon, so I think I'll keep an eye on the Evolution 58....
After buying this bird, I can't believe how many of these yak 54's are the same kit. and vary in price.. I've met a guy that buys them direct from China.. have seen the kits, and the costs. Wow.. what a difference. Maybe I should buy direct and finish opening up my own online hobby shop We need more CHEAP Good quality giant scale arfs.. I sweare there's not 600-1000.00 in balsa there. hahaha..Thanks everyone for the input. |

Since it sounds like you are cost conscious, have you thought about the MT57?? It can come with a canister muffler, header, clamps, and couplers for under 480 dollars.

Don't rule out the BME 58, it is the lightest and probably the most powerful. You might have to mount the batteries up front, but that's no big deal. The new owners are doing a very good job in the service department too.

Also check out Ron at http://southeastrcengines.com I'm building the review plane and have the motor now. Should have more info in a week. But his new engine looks very promising. it's called the XYZ-50HP .
