Walt,

It looks like you have 2 pieces of 5/8" Drywall as the Table top? Is this what you screw into? or all the way into the wood top?

thanks, Ward

Hi Ward: There is one piece of 5/8ths drywall on the bench. The screws go through the drywall into the bench top maybe a 1/4 inch. There's not a whole lot but still a pretty good amount of pressure pushing against these angles. After I anchored the 1st side I pulled the other side up against the fuse side with a couple grip clamps between the formers from angle to angle to straighten the whole thing up, then screwed down the opposite side. With all the stringer work about to start I didn't want this coming loose...Walt

I should have posted these earlier. It is the pilot figure I shipped to Walt. It is a 40% Composite Creations. I panted it with PPG single stage concept paint. Should give you an idea of the colors I plan to use

Walt uses black sticky-back velcro for the sboulder straps.

Each former in the hatch area has a 1/4sq spruce doubler on the front and back side. From the hatch back one doubler on one side. There's a diagonal running top and bottom from each former to fuse corner running opposite from top to bottom. To make things a little less cluttered I figured it to be easier to install the top side first before the stringer/ longerons are installed.

Is that sheetrock your building on there Walt?

That thing goes together like tinker toys. I see you using squares and such but it looks like the parts are cut to very high tolerances.

Hey gareth.ky...I cover the bench top with 1/2 or 5/8th's drywall. It holds pins well, its very flat and after a couple builds its a cheap replacement for the next couple. The laser cutting on this is very nice. It takes some pounding to snap it together, the tolerances are very tight. All the fuse formers being light ply have a natural set to them. The stringers will actually hold them into a flat and straight position when assembling the stringers. I'm squaring each one as I go. I'm really enjoying this build, it actually neat to see it come together..
