Default CA Models EXtra 330 38%

I am looking at buying a one of these planes and was hoping I might get some input on them. The plane I am looking at is the upgraded version I guess it has a stiffer tail section on it. I was wondering how it flys? How is it for a IMAC plane? Any problems that you have had with it? As always thanks for all the help everyone has given me.

Bill,
I finished building mine last April- it is the gen II model you are talking about with the stiffer fuse. I enjoy building from a kit and this one was as smooth of a build as I have ever done. It is pretty straight forward and moves fairly quick due to the wings, stabs, rudder, turtle deck and bottom all coming as balsa sheeted foam. I did do a few mods to the motor box- I rebuilt the whole thing with aircraft ply instead of light ply- I did the same thing with the lnding gear plate, also. Here are some pics of the build, and if you want to see more, check out the link for my build thread below. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Thanks for the reply. Looks great. What power box did you use? I see your working on it in the living room. Must of been cold that day. I built a 125cc Rotax kart in my living room one time because it was to cold to work outside. Now that I am married not ever going to happen again. I will check your build out. How do I know if its the new fuse, and not the old one? Thanks for all the help.

Bill,
I used an Emcotec DPSI RV for power distribution- here is the link to their web site:

http://www.rc-electronic.com/html/en.../englisch.html

I did not actually build the airplane in the living room- just did some covering and fine tuning of control surface bevels and assembly there. As for the gen II version, it does not have stringers along the bottom of the fuse and the fuse does not have cross braces along the top and sides of the fuse.

Does CA have a website? because even when I google Columbo Anderson kits I still can't find a website.

Thanks,

Neil

I used a Smart Fly power expander before, and I never had any problems with it. I like the Emcotec because it has the batt reg built in and draws power from the 2 batteries in a synchronus fasion.

Thanks for posting pics! I am about 85% framed up now with mine. The next task is to mount the engine, but there are no markings on the firewall or in the instructions. Did you use the vertical center of the firewall for the horizontal line, then offset to the left for the right thrust?

Thanks,
Jim W.

Actually, I mounted the cowl first and then centered the prop shaft and hub in the opening and marked the holes and walla!! worked great and I did not have to make any adjustments to it- no trim either. Here are some pics:

CA kits are now sold through www.netboxhobby.com. I built the 33% 330L and it was a great build and a great flyer.

From what i understand, there is a container on the way from Argentina to Netbox in Florida with more stock, so I would anticipate additional items going up on the web site soon. From the 2 phone calls I made to Netbox, I was pretty unimpressed due to the fact I left messages with a lady with my phone number and never got a return call- i was going to purchase another 38% Extra- go figure

I have someone who will sell me one. Here is an email that he sent me about it.
The plane is an airframe with some decent hardware...it was setup to a push-pull rudder system...and the tail has all pin hinging done....covering is of great quality as well...there is no engine or electronics included...it also has a brand new set of sheeted aeroworks wings. To make this fly you will need engine, electronics, control arms for the elevator and throttle setup., fuel cell and fuel...

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...A/DSC05173.jpg

Is it worth $500? Thanks
