Ryan,

Thanks! I learned long ago that you never know who you're talking to. I figured he had enough of the "Cub" type questions.

John, A Cub is one of the best. If you end up with one, enjoy!

Hi guys!

Been reading the whole thread now, and I'm quite sure that this plane will be my next project. Getting tired of my SD Extra 260 30% although it is fun to fly!
But I'm not sure which engine and electrical equipment to use. I also want smoke to make sure this will be a killer at the field

I can't really decide between DA-100 or DA-85 and whether to use cans or just mufflers. Think I'm leaning a bit over to a DA-85 on can. What would be the best combination for badass smoke?

Do I really need a PowerExpander? I've been seeing several of you just use a Wolverine, 2 regs, 2 batts directly into the reciever. This is weight saving and money saving!

What do you guys think? Opinions are very welcome!

Hey Dan, looking at Kitfoxes, but do have a cub that I can fly if I find somewhere to keep it

william, best combo for bad ass, DA100 hands down. On electronics, no extra stuff needed, two batts, into two switches, into one or two rx's, clean, simple, effective. Thats how Ive been rocking 50cc to 150cc planes for over 4 years.

William123,
I am currently flying my edge with a DA85. If I were going to do it again I would go with a DA100 with stock mufflers. Two reasons, the 85 needs a tunned pipe to really shine. The PAU edge would require a lot of modification to do so. Second, the 85's have been having a lot of problem with leaking gaskets. I would go with one of the new 5oz lighter DA 100's. I may be changing mine shortly as well. I will save my 85 for a later project. I think we will see more models being designed around the 85 tuned pipe combo as in the case of the new QQ 101. Hopefully they get this leaking problem corrected in the mean time.

DA100 with KS86 cans. I put all the bling in mine to use for a potential 40% project. Keep it simple. Very nice flying plane

OK, thanks for the input! So, then I'm leaing (once again) against the DA-100 with stock muffler. IS this a good setup for smoke? I have seen that that there is muchc arguing which smoke pump is the best, but I ain't going for the Sullivan after reading bad things about it. Does the TME work good?

Once again, thanks for the advices

William, the twin cylinder DA-100 will be better for smoke than the DA-85. The 36% Edge with a DA-85 and stock muffler is very light but the DA-100 is smoother and has more power. Either engine will fly the plane very well.

if you have no noise limitations, and want power and smoothness, and not sacrifice anything, DA100 on stock mufflers FTW!

The factory is on track to complete the production by the end of this month, and we hope to be shipping them out a couple of weeks later.

Good to hear thanks for the reply.
Still not sure on the 36% or the 43% both have great reviews and by the sounds of the GREAT customer support the planes and PAU cant be beat.
Have a older Aero tech 540 35%er and its due to be upgraded.
These planes still have the all build up wings/stabs ect?
Never was a big fan of foam, build up always seems lighter and stronger if done right.

It would also be nice to see a opening in the tail for a rudder servo .

Ditto on that. I've got the older DA100 on stock mufflers on mine, with all the gear shoved back as far as I can get, and it's still flying nose heavy...... Can't get a hands off 45 degree up line, it drops down pretty good. I think either one or two cut outs for rudder servos in the tail would be great. It would give you lots of options.... I think it will take at least 2oz. if not 3 to back there to get it where I would like it.

I've got 15 gallons through mine now, and I've only had a few minor bugs to repair.
