Has anyone tried the Carden dashboard for their 35% Edge in the PAU 36%er?

regansm-Im not sure, but i think someone else out there mghit know. OR may have used that dash.
Back to the plane. I manged to get some work done on cannister mounts. First thing i had to do was find some wood to use to make the mount. So i made use of the tunnel cover you cut out at the beggining of the build. I drew some line son it. Markd the center point of where my cannisters go(this will involve some messing round with headers and all that stuff.) After i drew the center line for the cannisters and found the basic placement i used a protractor to draw the 60mm holes. I used a band saw to cut out the holes, but a dremel can be easly used. ONce i had that call cut out, i test fitted the cans and did any extra opening i had to do. I used the black neoprene tubing for soft mounting as it should be melt proof as thats what everyone says to use when connnecting smoke lines to mufflers. IF not i can change it in the future. Cannister where a nice snug fit and should with stand the vibrations from the DA. There arefour squares on the back part of the tunnel that you can cut out for air exits..I am using front out cans so i removed only the back section of covering for air to exit. You will see this in the manual and when you build the plane. I dry fitted the cans and everything is fine. So i went ahead and epoxied in the mount. IF you want any thing explained just let me know and ill TRY to help out as best i can. Also ive attached a pic of the motor mounted. |

Looking good Harv.......Nice standoffs
Do you have a pic of your ignition mounting....I see some zip straps behind your engine on the firewall----that looks like it is holding the ignition box ![]() I have three different shipments coming from down south.....they should all be here in the next week and then I can post some more pics of my build-------Xmas is coming a little early for me===I just hope I have a few bucks left so my wife has a present

Nice job Harv. I would only suggest that you move the spring clamps on the teflon couplers to the end of the coupler to prevent oil from getting every where. Happy Flying.

The standoffs look sweet !! I like the look of nice standoffs way more so than blocks of wood. - it just looks way better if nothing else. I've been using x-large size aerotrend glow fuel tubing for my canisters - that seems to work well - silicone can handle tons of heat. If the neoprene gives you any trouble you got options.

Im not sure. I know you are using rear outlet cans(are you?) And on my cans, the aprt that connects to the header is raised up alot off center. Mine were a little tough to st up because i could still use a little more drop, so i would just get the 90mm drops if i were you.

desert aircraft has something called "knuckle" headers - they have two balls that swivel as ball joints, you position as you would like to fit any situation then mark and braze. I believe they silver solder them which would cost tons less than welding if you can't silver solder yourself.... I didn't get them for my extra but I was going to... I found that solid 50mm drop headers were the ticket on my plane so I got those.

FINALLY, the building stage of the edge 540 is complete. And now starts the troubleshootoing stage. First problem i had- the T-connector on my gas line was leaking and i had some gas sip into the fuse, no big. Took that out threw it away. Got the motor started and runs good. But it sounds like it will need some tweeking. smoke works good. ill have to do some trail and error with that. Im aiming for next weekend or if any good days show up in the week to finnally test it out.
