Nice VID Rocketman. The music was kicking. Don,t sell yourself short son, you fly very well. It warms my heart to see young guns out flying me. I like the fact that you stay high most of the time, with a little down on the deck stuff here and there. You fly smooth big open manuvers, and they look great. 3-D is good, just not my cup of tea. Your style of flying mixes the best of both. The fact that you assembled the plane yourself tells me that you are a very talented indivial. Rock on my friend ! Andy

Nice work. I felt bad flying a plane at IMAC this year that STILL has mufflers on it.
Looks like there is going to be quite a contingent of PAU Edge flyers in IMAC next year. I hear someone could be flying one in Unlimited as well. Congrats on getting your new machine in the air! Hey get some smoke pics with a blue sky!

Maidened the 36% Edge yesterday! New DL 100 with TBM Silent Beauty Compact mufflers. 2-2600 ma Li Ion's through Smart fly Reg on JR Power Bus receiver HT 7955's all around and JR 8711 on Rudder. TMB CF Spinner, Vess 27B prop. Single 2700 ma 4 cell Ni M Hyd on Ignition, Smart fly Ignition cut off.
No Fuel, No Wheel Pants, 27lbs 2 oz. Balanced a fraction behind 7 in from LE. 7 flights and 1.25 gallons through motor. Throttle curve set at 25% travel at 50% stick travel. Takes a breath of down E to fly inverted. 45% inverted upline is OOS hands off. tosses around in tight loops and eights at about 1/4 stick. Hovers at about 10 to 12% of servo travel - about 1/4 stick. Lands hands off by managing the throttle and no elevator input required to land 3 point. Great flying plane. Great looking plane at 10 or more feet. Fuselage construction and covering A quality. Wings a B and the stabs a C+. Issues of note on mine were epoxy or polyurethane fingerprints on both surfaces of the stabs, same on lower wing surfaces and very littly sanding before covering. Some of the pen or pencil points marked on the covering before cutting show through the Pearl yellow on the top of the Stabs. Was shocked to discover the paint on the cowl was not catalized auto paint as most are. Went to remove a sharpy mark and fogged a spot with denatured Alcohol, my mistake for assuming but at this level comon guys. Cowl kind of rough and VERY Heavy and it was seperated from the Cowl ring in some places. Additionally with the wings the holes laser cut for the servos screws, 3 of 4 were , one had no holes at all, the servos screws would not propery snug down as they were cut to large for the socket heat screws I use in all my installations. secondly if I correctly mounted the the clevises on the wing side of the servo arm where they should be they would rub the covering. I corrected both by cutting 2 MM plywood shims and epoxying them to the existing mounts, the epoxy fills the oversized holes and then redrilled the mounting holes... all solved and better geometry than installing ball link to the top of the arm. Any other change I made was for personal preference. From reading the thread I anticipated needing to get weight rearward to balance with the 100 twin and installed a battery tray behind the Rudder servo and found that to get close to the 7 inch recommended I needed to go to just behind the W Tube with both receiver packs to balance with the DL 100. I have absolutely no issues with the flight performance. AWSOME! The plane exceeds my expectations on flight performance. It truly is a pleasure to Fly! I had Bad Brad Graphics do up a package for the plane and I love the looks! Overall, the couple of quality issues were annoying, not deal breakers and the flight performance is exceptional. By the way the DL 100 is performing incredibly also. I have had 3 DL 50's with no real issues so I tried the 100. Love it! Bill |

Hi Bill, nice grafixs----they set the plane off well!......Do you have any pics of your wing/servo, clevis modification? I also found a couple of epoxy fingerprints, that I tried to remove unsuccessfully-----luckily they are really not very noticeable.........I found a couple of spots on the cowl ring that needed a little extra glue & clamps---And I like the thickness & strength of this cowl compared to alot of other plane kits with thinner material & less FG, that crack the first time you start an engine........I have seriously thought about clear coating (with Luster coat) my cowl, to protect that glittery DA decal, but am not sure how that paint will react to the paint on the cowl......I will try some on the cooling piece that I will cut out of the bottom and see if it orange peels----that is my biggest concern........some more info on my snails pace build soon...

Honestly though the PAU ARFS are some of the best quality out there for the money. The owners are great guys (I've met them). They also listen to the customers and I'm sure they will address your issues with the factory. And I agree with you 100%.......they fly just great! I've flown the 35% on both the 85cc and the 100cc DA as well as the 43% on the DA150.......All of them badass.

I tried laquer thinner, acetone, CA Debonder, careful scraping with razor blades and exactos. Improved but not eliminated. Actually seemed like letting some CA debonder sit on it for a minute or so, rubbing with a paper towel and then rubbing with a towel soaked with acetone had the most improvement but nothing would eliminate.
I have a couple of before shots of the wing servos holes and shims cut, I'll take and after to make sure the explaination is clear and post. Also was a little uncomfortable about putting thread locker on the metal clevis screws provided in the kit, the little 3 mm counter sunk ones that go in the gold anodized clevisis provided. the thread locker tends to gum up things you want to keep free. As a result running the 1st tank on the ground one of the 4 aileron screw backed out and the arm dropped free. I immediately found 6 longer 3mm screws, replaced all with the longer screws and added a 3mm locknut exposed threads now exiting the other side of the clevis. May not be needed with careful use of thread locker, but for me provides a lot more peace of mind. Bill |
