No, I don't think that will be enough to prevent flutter.

if the aileron were foam cored, then maybe you could get away with it. But the ailerons built up and 2 servos are used to prevent any aileron twisting.

Harv and LR are correct. Two on this bird is the way to go.

Here's a couple of small modifications to the original plane setups (my own personal preferences).......Soldering barbs on the brass fuel tubing (I also did the clunk side) an aluminum fuel tank cap (PSP Manufacturing) and a surgical tubing replacement for the springs for the tail wheel, along with flat spotting the wire and red loctiting the collets on...............

What about 2 aileron servos with Y harness directly into receiver? No power box. Thinking of using DA-85 and keeping it light. Radio is 9303.

Only problem with Y harness is getting the servo's to match is more difficult (not impossible). Be sure to use a voltmeter of some type to check the matching.

if your going to use a y harness. i would listen to sweet pea. I would also reccomend hitec servos because of there programability.

Hey sweetpea, good to hear from you. Y harness use to be the way to go. I had Y harness and dual receivers on my 42% Dalton but, sold it. I just want something light and simple. I first adjust the servos just listening to them. My volt meter does not work anymore.

I did not want to use a power box until the smart-Fly systems caught my eye http://www.smart-fly.com/Products/Po...ersystems.html and at 3.7 oz. the EQ 6 does a lot for your plane.

I have used Y-harnessed Hitec servos that I matched in a wing, and it works fine. I just made sure that there was no buzzing at neutral, of full deflection in either direction. However, that was a pain in the neck.
There is negligible additional weight in using Match Boxes (JR) or MS-10 (Fuatba), and it is much easier to achieve the correct matching. In my own 36% Edge, I am using Futaba 9156 servos with one MS-10 device in each wing.

Major, if you do use Y-harnesses, just be sure the servos match perfectly. I burned out two 8411s when I tried Y-harnesses on my Compy Extra 2.6M ailerons. One lightweight alternative to Y-harnesses would be a Smart-Fly Equalizer. They function like matchboxes but are very small and light and are not expensive. The EQ6 is a nice unit but in my opinion not needed on the 36% Edge if you have enough channels on your radio. Having said that, I am going to purchase an EQ6 for my 43% Edge because I don't have enough independent channels to match the servos.

Have you converted to 2.4? I have to purchase a 10 channel receiver for my next gas plane and thinking of making the switch to 2.4GHz.

I switched to 2.4 awhile back. First with XPS module, but when they never came out with the telemetry or Satellites I moved to Spektrum (both on my 10X). I've been very happy with Spektrum and the data logger is an awesome tool to ensure you are getting a good signal instead of not knowing how good your reception is like with all other brands including 72mhz. But some of the other brands are fine as well....its all personal choice. I don't fly 72mhz on any of my planes anymore......no pins, no shoot downs. (NOTE: I only get 9chs though with the JR spektrum module in PPM mode. You won't get 10 unless you pick a Futaba or JR top end native system)

As for the Y, I don't like Y's. Too hard to get the matching right on and with digital servos its even harder IMHO and more expensive if you get it wrong. I don't like to use one matchbox because then you have to use the matchbox to run differential in the ailerons. I prefer 2 matchboxes so the radio can be used for differential. So with the cost of that being about $50-$100 depending on the brand and the added cost of an optic kill switch (which I highly reccommend on any gas plane) the EQ-6 is a perfect solution as it incorporates everything.

If you do go the Y harness route though at least pickup a H9 or equivalent volt meter, they are only like $30 and will save you a $100 servo or 2.
