Guys I got 10 flights on my 540 now. All I can say is wow! Cg is spot on! Flys lite on the wing at 27.4lbs. Stalls are almost non existing. I only fly low rates with very little elevator. Did some of my best slow rolls and KE flights today! I only wish I had bought two edges. Its a keeper. Makes me look good if ya know what I mean. I find it comfortable to bring her down low, very stable no bad habits. She does have a fast down line, which took some getting use to. Quite different flight compared to my yak. hummmm I wonder what the big one flies like? Several club members made comments that they thought the 540 flew better than the yak, or looked better in the air. She does fly better, but the yak is alittle easyer to land. Talk about a satisfying fun plane. KE, Harrier" with very little elevator" Flat turns, Slow rolls , Inverted is soooo easy Flew the pattern in KE several laps, so easy , slow flight is slow!!! ONE HAPPY PAPPY RutnBuc Perfect day at the field 60 degrees and sunny winds were ZERO to Zero with gust to ZERO NO Kidding in Feburary. I live on the edge of america, EAST COAST BABY.

Now that's a post from one happy dude, I can tell!
Wylie, the 43% is very similar in flight to the 36%, just a bit more stable in all aspects due to its larger size. The 36% is a great size; large enough for easy, stable maneuvers and a bit easier to handle and transport than the 43%. Glad to hear you had a successful maiden with your new bird.

Ken's 36% has a DA-85 on a pitts muffler. He flies it like a 105" foamy.

Seen this?
This is when Ken had a cannister on the 85. It's on a pitts muffler now, no real change in performance but he says he likes the throttle response better. |

Here's another video with lots of 36% Edge flying. This one has the pitts muffler on the DA-85.

That's what he told me. I've flown the 36% on the pitts muffler but not on the cans, so I couldn't give you a comparison. I can say though, that if your field doesn't have noise restrictions, the DA-85 with a pitts muffler on this plane is an awesome combo.

There's nothing like flying a big Edge to sooth the soul. Great that there was a nice maiden and some nice flying videos.

Much better. I had the KS-95 to start with. The motor was extremely peaky with that can and nearly impossible to tune out. Could not hover it nor execute rollers with it as the throttle would work like a pogo stick. It seemed like it ran at idle or nearly full on. Needless to say I enjoy the Pitts much better and the motor runs great on it. I have read that the guys using the MTW-110 are not having the same problems I was. Ken |
