Very nice baffle job, it should really help keep the engine running cooler.

Thats some really nice baffle work. I wish there was some way to quantify how effective this is over the standard front baffling.

It just looks like it makes sense to have the airflow pass over as much of the cooling fins on the engine as possible. More area on the engine having cool air blow over should equal better and more even cooling.

Yea that's why I made the baffels to wrap around the back of the cylinders
to get some cooling air accros the back of the cylinders.
I want to get a temp probe to check the temp, any sugestions?

Joe,

The plane is not here with me at home but I've attached a picture of what I had to cut off.
I hope this helps.

That's what were here for. Anyway, no I did not. But if you do need to cut more than I did then you may want to epoxy a small piece of hardwood triangle stock on the inside bottom of the firewall and former before you start cutting. You should not have to go that far though. I have about a 1mm gap from the muffler to the firewall.

I think putting a little covering on the floor of the plane was much easier than designing and installing the baffle setup you have!!

I got lucky # 13! I made my baffle by fitting a piece of lite plywood just under the baffle openning extending back to the cylinders to prevent air from flowing down below cylinders in front. Air must travel back into the fins before dropping out.. This is basically a shelf in front of engine. I scribed the plywood to fit and glue to the cowl. its also scribed to fit within a 1/8 inch all across the front of engine. Very effective and lite. Wish I could up load pics. <RutnBuc> Its also angled upward slightly, to make sure air doesn,t pass under the engine without going thur the fins. The engine sits a little higher than the bottom of the baffle opennings in front of the cowl. Painted yellow to match. And the best part, only took a couple hours start to finish. All it is,,,, is a shelf to prevent air from by-passing engine.
