Flew the Edge a bunch more times this past weekend, had a blast! The wind was being indecisive all day though, so I wasn't able to do any serious trimming. I just kicked back and had fun with it instead
. I ran smoke through it for the first time too, which was a major let down! Apparently my pump isn't working up to par, so I'll have to tweak on it a little next time.

I finally had some great days for flying and triming (next to no wind finally). Engine thrust is good, CG is good (knew those anyways but good to verify on a windless day). KE to the left and to the right needed a little bit of mix for both roll and pitch (very little on both needed, with a little more roll mix on KE to the right). I would do the basic sequence then have a few min left to have a little fun, such as KE passed, hovering, and just flying around (nothing to fancy or technical as I can't do any of that stuff). Maybe some day, LOL.

I put several flights on my Edge today, and the weather cooperated so I was able to get all my trimming finished. I had a ton of fun with it, lots of good flying and hanging out with lots of great people. This was definately one of the most fun days I've had out at the field this year

Took a break from putting the Extra together and took the Edge out for another beautiful Sunday afternoon. I've got about a dozen flights on it now, and its dialed in real good now. My buddies Manny and Kenny took a turn on the sticks, Kenny flew it up high and was real gentle with it and he liked it a lot. Manny......well, you can see what he did in some of the photos
![]() Speaking of photos.....we took a lot! oh, and I also rung out my trusty Freya a little too.

I forgot to mention that the overall feel of the plane was very locked in. It was very neutral with no bad tendencies and obviously inspired enough confidence within just a few minutes of flying to get it down low. Harriers were awesome; just locked right in and was super stable with no wing rock. Driving it around with the huge rudder in harriers was also easy. In rollers and rolling harriers it felt great with no wag and very linear.
Chris flew a lot more precision then I did and I was surprised at how well it transitioned between both IMAC style and 3D flying. The plane is large and has plenty of control authority. I would like to see this plane fly on the 3W 106, 111 or BME 116. The DA 100 had more than enough authority to haul it around even with the added weight of cans and a smoke setup. If you want something that is as stable as a 40% plane but don't want to spend as much I think this is a great option. |

I sure know the feeling. I had my 36% Edge out this last Sunday for some really awesome flying. For me anyway. I was doing loops, rolls, hammerheads, some practice at IMAC Basic and a few really decent blenders. I even tried my hand at a couple hovers, even though I still need a LOT of practice on that. But what can I expect, my engine isn't even broken in yet. Only 2 gallons of 32:1 Lawnboy so far. I have not touched the needle valves yet and can tell it is pretty rich, but sounding better all the time.
This plane flies just awesome and now that I can idle down a bit on landings, it sinks right in for nice slow touchdowns. Last edited by tkapfer; 08-25-2009 at 08:23 AM. Reason: spelling |

This plane is second on my list of next purchases. Though it may move to first, who knows.

I am sure you would like it and also that you could fly it much better than me!
If you are coming in hot on your landings you may went to check your CG. You might be a bit on the forward end of things. I landed it after doing all the wild 3D stuff. It slowed up really nice and settled in for a no bounce landing. I thought seeing how it was not my plane Chris would appreciate a normal landing over a harrier landing

Funny how that works. I've flown the plane on a DA-85 (Thanks Ken-H). It was outstanding and I know on my 3W106 it would be even better.

Hey sam,
Mine is still sitting in the box, I have a 150cc yak now so its been sitting. I'm getting all the stuff I need to finish it right now. It should be awsome, I've just been waiting for my skillz to catch up to my equipment. This edge means more to me than my 150cc yak! Anyway I'm gonna ''rip the wings off this thing'' Just kidding, hope your doing good and you get one soon! Late, mark |
