I think beefing up the wings a bit will just make this a much better plane, which I think it is already an excellent plane. I will add a little weight, but will also allow uses to push it a little harder (like some may be doing now) than what it presently is intended to be (which may be the case for some). It will also add a little strength to what seems to be a weak point, which some have suggested. If one wants it to weight the same as it is now, there are a few things that can be done (like CF landing gear, going with water bottle fuel tanks, etc.). I am not sure if the wings on both the 36% and the 43% are built exactly like each other or if there are some minor differences, as I have not heard of a 43% with issues (only Herve would know this). Could be something like different glue, maybe it's an extra brace, maybe a little different design, etc. Might be something to look into if there is.
I will not hesitate to buy another PAU plane (Edge, Ultimate, etc.), which I have done already (Ultimate and mini Yak). I can say IMHO, PAU is a top notch company, employees are excellent, they have great prices, great flying planes and are built very well. Any improvements in anything is always liked by all, it also make a company stay on top.

LOL, cabin fever already.........try living here. At least it sounds like some further south get some flights in, a little harder to do up here. I think last year I got maybe a handful of days of flying in, that include some indoor flying as well. Less snow here than the normal so far, maybe we will get an early summer. Which is great for flying outdoors sooner, but bad cause may have a very dry summer.

The 36% is much easier to over-speed and over-stress than the 43%. That is the main difference. The 43% is so big that is tends to remain smooth and graceful.
The designs are not different, but the thickness of some of the wood parts (particularly around the wing tube socket) is different: the 43% is 38 to 40 lbs, or over 50% heavier than the 36%. As some of you have said it, the strengthening of the just aims at making the model a bit more resistant to the more aggressive style of flying. This will be done on the next production run, and it will weigh a few ounces more. |

Saving My $. This is going to be my next winters project .I have about 2 minutes of flying time on one. I'm not a good pilot but the comfort level was almost instant. Great flying plane. Now I feel the need to own one.

I really want one... but $$$ is tight these days... I already have a DA85 and am hoping to get this Edge and use either an MTW RE3 (6 cm diameter) or an ES Composites (when they build it) tuned pipe.... really hoping it will fit ok without too many mods...
Hoping sometime soon to get one! |

I'm traditionally a tuned pipe person, but my next plane, stock mufflers and a smoke system . Never had smoke, plus it will save me $500 bucks on pipes .

I finally got to see this bird doing something other then 3D. At our IMAC bootcamp yesterday there was a guy flying one of these beauties in Intermediate and it was really something to see. The pilot was very good but so was the plane. Snaps were crisp and clean and it tracked as straight as can be. Very impressive.........................

I flew mine in Basic IMAC last year (1st time in IMAC), winds at 40 to 50 km/h. I was very impressed with the way it and I flew that weekend. Even better an a calm day and shows up really well in the sky as well as the ground. Looking at getting the 43% someday.

Just pulled the trigger on one of these! I figured I would put aside all the rumors about wing failures and give it a try. I sure do love a good looking edge!
