Sam You're going to have to quit giving me Ideas. I had an unscheduled landing with the Cub. Wouldn't take throttle in the worst spot on take off. Plowed fields make lousy landing strips and it flipped hard on its top. Its not bad but will take about a week to fix. Don't have the time right now. To busy flying and getting ready for a road trip.

Ok, the RV had some parts go bad over the winter so I was fixing that. Then I got a bug up my bum and decided to put the PAU Su-26 back together since a buddy of mine welded the extensions on the mufflers. It needed a little cowl work as the new mufflers were not quite the same angle as the old. Its back together with a new 3W55CS and the smoke pump is primed. Was going to test run today but...
![]() ![]() so it may have to wait for tomorrow.Back to the Edge...I took some photos of all the damage (after I cleaned it up) so everyone can see where I'm about to repair from. I've got a few ideas I'll post later today along with the pictures. Also found out that my igniton pack had a cold soder joint. Easy fix. I pulled the crap outta the wires and bent them every which way and shook it etc trying to get it to fail again.....and I found a spare 2400 LION as well. So I'm back in the game with those. I'm still going to order a brand new pack and use these for smoke. I did notice that I'm short 2 oneway valves for the smoke in the Ultimate and this Edge so I need to order some.

Had to work today and then finished cleaning and fixing the RV for the Summer minus the leak in the ceiling where the caulk on the skylite for the shower cracked. I need to remove and reinstall that to fix it right. Everything else is clean and in working order!
Here's the damage pics, no work on it today.

Repairs have started on the gear area. I'll post some pics later.
Got my new gaskets and got an alum carb block for the 106TOC. I cleaned up everything and set the needles back to stock. Its all back together. No excuse for the motor not running right now. Mufflers were also installed.

Good night of work. The gear is about 90% done. Some glue is drying but really all I have left to do is trim the plate that the gear sits on (not structural). Add the balsa fillets to the sides and redo the covering. It all worked like a champ.
Wings will be next and then I need to recut the cowl.

Here is the repair work. I've got to say that I don't like Ultracote as much as Monokote. But you work with what the Arf is covered in. One day this plane will get a new makeover.
Things I've worked on today as well. My throttle servo had some gears broken, no surprise as the carb was ripped off. One wheel pant has been sanded, repaired and primed. The other has been repaired but not sanded and primed. Once I get the cowl marks done for cutting cooling and exhaust holes I will move the wings on the table. I've yet to have taken them out of the wing bag since the crash. Smoke pump arrived yesterday as well so that is being plumbed up as well! Let me know any thoughts.

Nice Job on the repair.
Where did you get that cool servo bracket. That would save a lot of time setting up servos. Now that is some functional bling.

Looking good, Sam. I agree with you about Ultracote versus Monokote. My 50cc PAU Edge will get a recover sometime too, and I'll probably do it in Monokote.

Its a secraft alum servo bracket. Pricey but they do make setting up the throttle alot easier. Especially when you have cans or some other issue with precut servo holes that just don't work out.

I just had an idea to look into the steering servo mounts on the old RC 10s that we used to race. See if they are still using them. If they are still available then they would be a strong ,light and inexpensive way of mounting throttle servos.
I'll let you know what I find out. |

Which RC10. I have some mounts from a T3, B3 and TC3.....Not sure I'd trust those particular mounts in an airplane due to the excessive vibration.
