Seen the picture in another thread. The coupler is not installed in the photo (the pipes do not attach to the cannister inlet), there is a small gap between the header and cannister.

Anthony, the picture was taken to show alignment and gap prior to the standard teflon coupler and clamps. Simply connect as you typically would and fly.

Sweetpea, that is about a 1/8 to a 3/16 gap to prevent can and header form rubbing and allow some flex. Teflon coupler and clamps are then added on final assembly before bolting the headers to the engine.

-1st put cannisters in the mounts then slip on teflon coupler and spring clamp on cannister.
-2nd slip header into couple and add screw type hose clamp on header coupler connection.
-Last put some high temp silicone on the header/exhaust port flange and tighten header bolts to exhaust port and then tighten screw clamps

You are then left with the same gap (inside the coupler) as you see in the picture.

Well today was finally somewhat nice. A tad chilly and very overcast with rain clouds but no rain or wind. I dragged the 36% PAU Edge out of the shop and hooked it up to the trailer tongue for an engine run. It started right away and ran as smooth as my other other 3W's. Finally I think I have this motor back to what it was. Also no leaks on the inside.

Now the smoke pump on the other hand was giving me fits. Forced me to remove the cowl and take the pump all apart. Basically it was gummed up and the motor wasn't strong enough to prime. I used a small screwdriver and then ran some thinner threw it and it was running nice and clean again. After putting it together I noticed that it didn't work again....there needs to be some gap from the motor to the gears that pull the fluid. Once I got that figured out and glued the motor in place all was good. Put it all back in the plane and ran it off the planes system.

What I need now is my 2 batts from Fromeco. I don't trust the ones I'm using in the plane. With the 8 ball they drop voltage very fast under 1 and 1.5 amp loads. I was using them for the ignition and smoke. I may borrow a good battery for the ignition from something else so I can get this bird airborne again (if the batts don't show by the weekend from Fromeco).

Well the remaiden was just about perfect! The motor ran flawlessly. Flew a nice long first flight and brought it in to check the data logger. Everything checked out and the motor never hiccupped so I added the smoke oil.

Hopefully JohnVH can get the pics loaded and he got some good ones. It was billowing nice thick white smoke. I need to tweak it a touch as I had too much residue on the bottom of the plane but I was happy.

JohnVH also fixed my Heli today for me as well. I was doing pretty well for only my 3-5 flights today. The training gear should come off soon.

I forgot how much I like this plane. It flew so easy and comes into a crawl for landing. The snaps were crisp (and looked good with smoke). The 106 was pulling it vertical w/ease. I need to do some trimming flights though.

One thing I did not do for the maiden as I guessed. I took the cans out but replaced them with the smoke pump and the smoke battery (2600 Lion) and the stock mufflers (which I cut the stacks down 1/2 in). I didn't rebalance the plane. Figured it would all be close enough from when I balanced with the cans. My inverted flights showed just a slight nose drop so once my RED AERO pilot arrives that should stop it and it'll be more balanced.

Thanks for the update SP...

Well.. just sold my 87" Yak airframe.... just have to sell my Brillelli 366GT and I'll be that much closer to having one of these!! (well... that and I have to turn 40!) I've pretty well decided to go for the MTW re3 with a DA85.

Has anyone tried just running one servo per aileron?
