I've read a few comments about the wheel pant block mod not staying in place. Before you glue the block in place, sand inside the wheel pant lightly with 100 grit paper and then clean with isopropyl or denatured alchohol. Using 30min. epoxy helps as well.

Well, another one takes to the skies! This airplane is my first foray into the 100cc world. DLE 111 with Vess 28B. Ran great right out of the box (well, I did change out the plugs before I even fired it up). Thanks Herve for finding a shipping method to get it to me in this frozen wasteland I call home!

Hey Brad! Awesome news! Wish I could have been there but I'm still trying to remember "Go around, Go around thrust, flap 15" while not pressing the TOGA switches each time I say "go around" :-)

I find that the front wing retention bolt is a real biotch to put in and remove. I've already had to cut it much shorter than stock just to get it to fit in past the former that's in the way. I can't slide the wings fully on and then put the bolt in. I have to just engage the anti-rotation pins then put the bolt in and get the threads started, then push the wing on snug or snug the wing up with the bolts. Any way you crack it, the nylon bolts are a pain to get at with a plywood fuse former almost right in line with the bolt. Even when the bolt is in place they are a real pain to turn in or out.
Anyone have any tips besides trading in my fingers for some long slender ladies fingers! |

I cut the front nylon retention bolt just long enough to have about three threads past the T nut in the wing. It's about an inch and a half long. It becomes a two finger, two hand operation.
The other option, is to cut the head off a bolt and loctite it in place. Then use a nylon wing nut. Still, two hands two fingers. |

I'd do more than just loctite a thread in place. I did that method but I used hysol to keep the threaded rod in place. You could leave the bolt long enough to meet the inner former side and glue a new plywood plate in place to use so the fuse side isn't used. This would make it easier to do. Not an option for me as I have 2 tanks (smoke/fuel) and there is no extra room.
