People said the same thing about the Great Planes 1/3 Cap and it turned out lighter than the original estimates and was a very nice flying airplane. I too saw Frank Noll fly the 38% Extra and for the price it looks like a great airplane.

You better watch it Tbob or 50% plane will do a "leave Tbob alone" gay video for you. lol I have to agree though, that does sound heavy for a plane that size. Maybe the production planes will be lighter.

I agree but you can still tell if a plane looks like it is heavy on the wing. The specs don't look favorable but I think once guys are flying it we'll see it's a good airplane...I could be wrong but just saying...

The 260 in my avatar is one of the last 35% Troy Built Von Extra's. It is one of the beefier ones at 24 lbs with a DA 100. I think Gene Payson at Troy Built had one down at 21.5 lbs with a DA 100. Mine flies nice at 24 though.

Ill give them credit, atleast they aren'y lying and saying its gonna way 32 pounds. Im sure it will fly pretty well. John Glezellis has one up here that I havent seen yet, but im sure Ill see this season. My only concern with this airplane is that it doesnt have a pipe tunnel built... just dont understand that one.

Lets think about this Tbob,
My carden has a 118" wingspan, the GP extra has 110" If we take the diffrence and divide it by two(2) half per wing then we end up with a whole 4" diffrence. That makes maybe 14sq. in. Diffrence in wing area. Now I'll just bet my lucky stars that you are saying that is heavy for its size because your thinking of our daltons and cardens (which are now highly refined) being 35-38lbs. Lets go back a couple years when cardens were a rare sight to see under 40lbs. They won countless contests like this. So if that's the case then the GP being 35-37lbs. seems pretty DAMN good for a BUILT UP arf airplane. With all do respect if you dont want this plane then dont buy it but dont open threads to make us justify why we would want one. Do us all a favor next time you want to bash something just jump up and sit on your hands cuz' were all sick of hearing it.
