The comments about the prototypes while favorable don't take into account the fact that these are professionally built and setup buy the manufacturer so they are bound to fly great and like Tbob said those guys could fly a 2x4 and make it look good. I for one understand what Tbob is getting at which scares me but if this plane was 3 or 4 lbs lighter they would not be able to keep it in stock at that price. Plus you would not be restricted to what you put in it with respect to setup. Which in and of itself helps keep overall cost down because you don't have to use the lightest motor, servos, hardware, exct. If you are saving anything on the price of the plane you will spend it on the acc................
I actually have to disagree with you on one thing, the built up wings are definetly lighter by most model manufactures. I have a set of 121" built up wings that have a ton more chord than a pair of 118" wings, and the 121 inch built up wings are far lighter.

As for the setup, I know John G. Set his review model up in the stock configuration. And yes, he can out fly all of us, but even then you can often see any bad characteristics that the plane might have (ie wing rock, sluggish control authority, etc). It would be nice if it were a bit larger I guess, but I would actually have more-so voted for a can/pipe tunnel to be built in, that would be my largest concern with this airplane.

I agree with you Tank a well engineered built up wing is in most cases as light or lighter than a foam core. However I think you will agree in most cases lighter means weaker. Also built up wings are more time intensive to make thus more expensive. Again Tank I am speaking in generalities as I have no idea how much the wing of this plane actually weighs. I guess I should have said that in my previous post. In this case however I would be willing to bet a foam core wing would have shaved some of the weight off this plane without increasing the overall cost of it. The Hangar 9 Cap 232 33% comes in at between 22-24 or 23-26 lbs depending on which page of the catalog you are looking at. Special edition 2007 catalog pg. 18 states 22-24 lbs pg. 19 states 23-26 lbs. Mine is right at 24 lbs with a ZDZ 80 and all digital servos so I am at a loss to explain where they picked up 10 to 12 lbs with an additional 5% overall size. I have read that once you get to about 35% or more you are not saving much with foam over built up. the difference is the sheeted foam is stronger. Again I don't know this for a fact I am repeating something I read. I would like to see some of the pro builders weigh in on this. I am curious to see what they have to say about this...........
