Couldn't wait to get her unpacked and inspected after traveling from The OC to the Big Town of Ball Ground GA. Notice how everything is strategically located and secured so there is no room for damage during shipping.

Looking forward to the build thread. I've got the AirWild 29% Extra 260 with a DA-50. I was lazy and had a little extra $$, so I had AirWild build mine for me.

The E260 is an incredible flying machine.

Can't wait to see how the E540 comes together, and how it flies.

Keep those pix coming!

Here it is, Everything has been unpacked and looked over. Now we are ready for some assembly. Just to give you a run down of what is going in this bird, I will be slapping a DA 50 on the nose with a Slimline Pitts style muffler, 5985's on Ailerons & Elevator, 5245 mini digital on throttle and a 5955 on the rudder. I will be running FromeCo products for powering everything.

See_e_oh great to hear you are liking the Extra 260. Awesome flying plane and extemely light weight for a 50 CC plane.

Air Wild does offer the new Turn Key build Service!

Will try and post some pic's of mine.. been flying it since last sumner and absolutely love it. Flying it with the Spektrum DX7 without any troubles. Notice install of satelite reciever. Also using the carbon fiber wing tube, DA50 and 1800 NiMhi batteries for a total flyin wieght of 15.2 lbs. Canopy was tinted with the window tint spray paint commonly used for R/C cars (Tamiya brand if I remember right).

Enjoy the build... You will love the fly.

Once I had the motor unpacked I couldn't wait to get it mounted. I used the mounting template that is supplied. After carefully marking the holes on the fire wall with the template is was time to install the engine. Air Wild has noted a change in the installation of a DA 50. You need to fabricate a 1/4" spacer in addition to the 2 1/2" stand-offs. In this applications I had some left over from another plane. I am using 1/4" alum. spacers. Before mounting the motor, I went ahead and cut slots for the Ignition and Ignition battery pack. I am mounting the ignition module on the right side of the engine box because I am using a Slim Line Pitts muffler. I was afraid if I mounted the module on the bottom it would be too close to the muffler and cause problems due to the heat.

Now that all of the drilling and cutting is complete around the engine box it is time to mount the motor. More building to follow tommorow.

I'm just finishing up the Air Wild 29% Extra 260. I put the DL-50 in mine.
I spent most of today TIG welding a pitts style muffler for the DL.
The only thing I changed so far are the wing bolts. I wasn't too nuts about them and installed regular 1/4-20 blind nuts and nylon bolts.
I put a huge quarter scale servo in for the rudder because I didn't want to rob a 5945 out of another plane, but I may do it anyway. Mine balances perfectly with a 5-cell NiMh. batt right in front of the rudder servo and the ign. batt. inside the engine box.
I have some 123 batteries from a power tool that I plan to make into receiver packs to get rid of the heavy 5-cell I have now. That plus going to the smaller rudder servo will help with weight I'm sure.
I also have a couple 4 inch spinners, one is alum. one is carbon, depending on how it ends up balancing.
I'm going to fire up the DL tomorrow and see how the custom pitts muffler sounds.

I almost bought the Edge 540, and was actually looking to buy one for the DL but found a couple threads on the AWild 260 and decided to try it instead.
I'm anxious to see how yours turns out.

Mine will be ready to fly tomorrow but I don't think the weather here in the N.W. is going to cooperate.

You will love the way it flys, The Edge and Extra are amazingly light planes. I had over 100 flights on the first Edge before it went in. Which is the main reason I am switching over to 2.4G. I will be posting some more tonight on the build progress.

You will be amazed at how quick and easy this plane goes together. If you follow some of the tips I will be using on assembly it will make some of the building easier. I fly at GMARC in Ball Ground GA, It will be ready to maiden the 2nd weekend in Feb.

I was able to get a few things done this evening. I skipped ahead just a few steps to getting her up on landing gear bc of the muffler. I didn't want the weight of the plane resting on the muffler. I am using a Slime Line Pitts style muffler instead of the standard muffler for the DA50. Hopefully the servos will be in tommorow so I can get the throttle setup and cowl installed.
