I emailed Mr. Clark personally for the shipping info. He replied with a very complicated form detailing all the addtional charges involved in sending the intake manifold overseas, including international handling fees, shipping documentation completion fees, order processing fees, special significant charge for cashing a money order at his bank and what all else. Fees, fees and more fees!! There were more hurdles here than in an Olympic race!!

I added up all those numbers. The cost came to just shy of $200. I speak from actual experience, not hypothesis, speculation and dated catalogs. Perhaps things have changed in the last year or so since my query.

My solution was to purchase a different engine for my project. It made more sense to me than trying to make my G62 something that it was not. And in the end, it didn't cost any more money.

BTW, the H9 website shows their Giant P-51 as being a 25CC gas engine size, 80" span plane. Why not just follow the manufacturer's recommendations? Not only would a 62CC gas engine be a bit overpowered, it would be considerably heavier. Lots of dead weight there.
My wife's family is in England so I didn't have that hassle also I never reccomended the g-62 the guy building it dit If it were me I'd use the Revolution as in the original post I made on this thread I agree that's why I say with a G-62 there won't be much cowl left it will look like a block of swiss cheese

I have to chuckle everytime I see one of these posts about bigger engines and the "Warbird" guys say "it'll pull the plane apart", "it won't fly scale"...

I think some of these guys don't know how to use the throttle in any manor but on/off. I'd definitely opt for bigger over smaller and all you need in most cases is a bit of restraint with the throttle, but it is there if you need it.

The other thing and it is often overlooked, is that most Warbirds wind up being tailheavy and require some added weight on the nose. That being said, it's one of the reasons you see so many G-62's in 'em. It's also a really tough, reliable engine but it does have the side mounted carb and I wouldn't own a gasser that did not have electronic ignition. There are those who run the magnetos and are perfectly happy with them but it's not my cup of tea.

So basically, if you can come up with a modified G-62 that'll fit in the cowl (carb mod) and an electronic ignition for a decent price, then I'd say go for it. Barring that, the rear carb 50/60cc size made for use in a model airplane engines, would be my choice. My brother is putting a ZDZ in his TF 1/5 scale Mustang with one of Kelvin's exhaust systems and it's gonna be sweet....

I know a bunch of guys with modified g62's on 3D planes (modified by rcign). They are really strong motors. Also another excellent 60cc is the Brillelli.

I wouldnt be worried about the G62 pulling the plane apart. Most of the 50s out there put out a bunch more power than the G62. The G62 is a good running and reliable engine, but its not in the same class as a DA50/3W50/ZDZ50 in power in its stock configuration. You wont see a G62 swinging 22 and 23" props as those listed 50s will. Perhaps a Zinger 22x8 paint stirrer.

Wow.
I only get about 6500-6600 out of my early ZDZ60 on Pitts and 22 x 10 Hawk.
Ultra reliable, but not in that class.

This is my RC Ignitions G-62 on CF pipe and 16 1/2 pound EF Yak.

It makes just shy of 7.5 hp but that is an estimate off of the Pei Reivers calculator. We do know that the Vess 22A does hit 8400 rpm and the Vess 23A 7800.

You just gotta let em breath.

How about a MT62, A G62 Clone { for lack of a better word.
Comes with electronic ignition, stand offs and muffler.
4.5 lbs all up with muffler ignition and stand offs
All parts from prop adapter back match G62
Same power and performance for around $410.00
