Tomy Shen is the Chinese source of the MT62i...He has been E Mailing people to sell his engine...
First sold by Adam at BCMA, don't know if he still does...
I bought a few to test....Rich Border has some...Milton Thompson has some...
The two I had were made with the ignition magnet positioned wrong in the hub, timed somewhere around 50+ degrees BTDC...I told Tomy, he changed the magnets...I think some will have two magnets, the second will have the opposite pole facing the sensor so as not to fire twice...Subsequent versions will have only 1 magnet...
There have been reports of the carb insulator block cracking or leaking, he copied the Horizon plastic carb block...
My version has the G10 epoxy board block with an external pulse line, thinner and NO cracking...
Tomy's prop hub is a copy of the old A&M 6 bolt hub...Hollow inside, held on with a nut, with a single bolt adapter on the end held on with 6 flathead allen bolts...
My version is solid 2024 aluminum...The buyer can specify length...
My version has an extra 6202 sealed ball bearing replacing the front crank seal, 2 front bearings are better than 1....
My version has the crank cut off at the rear bearing with a plug replacing the rear seal...
I THINK we all pay the same basic price for the engine...
OK Adam, Rich, and Milton...Anybody wanna play price games ? I will MATCH or sell my better version for LESS than any of you guys....Lets GIT'R DUN
I will guartantee the ignition FOR THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE, no matter who bought it or how many owners it has....
I have been converting and repairing Zenoah engines since 1987..Where were you guys ?????
Hi RCIGN,

What are the performance specs, RTF weight, and price of your modified MT62 ??

I've been looking at various lightweight 50cc-size engines for aerobatic use (DA, DL, 3W, LSPro, MT, etc.) but would be interested in more power if it's not MUCH heavier............

4lbs 4 oz, muffler, separate RC EXL ignition, standoffs, my single bolt hub and G10 carb rotator, extra front crankcase bearing..
Performance is the same as any G62, see the last post on top of the main page RE engine rpm....
$400 + UPS....Lifetime guarantee on the ignition...Guess I should take a picture, will do tonight...

I have a question though, I noted that your g-62 mods still used the the ignition coil, wire and plug cap. The G62 that I was wanting to modify does not have these and add the cost of those to the upgrade has me thinking more on new motor. I truly believe that a lite G-62 will outperform the 50cc motors at small cost in weight.
Does your MT62 use the igntion coil?

The MT62 is an exact clone except for the source coil and spark coil mounts, because it uses the RC EXL ignition....I use the G62 coil because it's very good and already on the engine..I cut off the source coil mount and put the circuit in the mount...See the avatar....

My mistake, I thought you handled the MT62 also. Since the engine I'm wanting to modify has no coil, wire or plug I would have to add about $40 to my mod. Nearest I can tell the CH ignition for the G62 also used the the stock coil. Seems like a good place lose some weight.
I may consider one of the 50cc engines although I would rather buy a good used 60cc for a 17lb to 18lb plane. Or a NEW one !! I just can't justify spending $650 for engine and muff for a 87" plane. Ain't gonna happen anywhere in my near future. Your engine or the TOC53 may be what I end up with.

Thanks for the info.

I also came across your posts on the MT57 prototype, which looks very interesting. I'm curious to see how that works out..............

I also handle the MT62i, have one here...I work with LS PRO and Tomyrc models, the maker of the MT engines...
If a G62 comes to me without the ignition coil but still has the coil mount lugs, I put a G62 coil on it with no charge IF the buyer wants the ignition in the mount like the avatar...If the coil mount lugs have been cut off the crankcaseI I use the RC EXL separate igniton like the MT62....
There are NIB G62s for sale at DDM for $349...They have no hub but since I make a hub and mount there is no problem, the conversion includes a new hub, cup mount, and carb rotator....
The MT57 should be ready to test in a few weeks, no price or other info yet....

I noted on another thread that you have the 50cc version "MT" available now. I'm getting confused! So many engines out to handle the same class of plane. Usally I think long it's wrong ! But getting back flying is hard to do for me these days so if If I do go new on an engine the imports are getting my attention. Gotta admit I like the looks of the MT50 and the price looks good too. I was wondering if it also includes the muffler like most if not all the chinese offerings ?

Conversions to EI, I started in 1987, not sure when C&H started..
Along came some newbies, BCMA, Tomyrc, Exteme Power, some more for sure...
Performance mods, Trevor Simpson, maybe some of the Go Ped sites like Dave's Discount Motors....
Mine is the ONLY one that puts the ignition in the mount, a G10 carb rotator, and until Tomyrc came along, a lighter hub.......For 21 years now...

Hey, I got my Yak and I'm still engine shopping. I've been to your website but all I can get is a photo of the G62 lite. I would like a list of motors/prices that you offer and I'm interested in the mod that can take care of my lack of ignition coil. I may be more interested in the MT 50cc because this plane has no provision for tail mounted rudder servo(s).

Not much of a website, biut it was cheap..It's all on there, just takes some looking...
click on forum, look under Ignitions and/or engines...
5 pages of miscellaneous pictures in the General photos pages...
If you want to see what it SHOULD look like, go to tompierce.net and click on the 190 build thread under "sponsors"....

Okie Dokie. Sorry to bug you but I was 90% ready to do business. The web site has nothing to do with sale or promotion of your products. Someone asked what website to go to to buy the MT50cc, no reply. I ask for products and pricing and and get basically poke around on the site look for it. I did, and realize that every time I need to "go back" I have to close it out and start over again. I'm going to go to tompierce.net now and hopefully I have better luck.
Sorry if I come off annoyed but searching threads for products and pricing is a strain, I've been doing that for too long!!
