I know the power of the 8711's is enough, the concern is possible flutter on the massive ailerons. It just hasn't been flown on 2 servos so I'm going to give it a go.

I plan on using 2 8711 servos per aileron and 2 8711 per elevator half, same for the rudder and go from there I will add if needed but I think it should be plenty.

Today I put on all the wings and mounted up the cowl. The holes for the cowl are all pre-drilled and the blind nuts installed. The wing tube is carbon and a perfect snug fit. You do need to open 6 spots on each side of the fuse for the wing tube, anti-rotation pins, wing bolts, etc...
Here are a couple pics of the next area of work... the inside. I'll start with the fuel and smoke tank, then the power expander, and batteries. Right now I need to head over to Dick's house to build the a123 packs. |

Sorry for the slow progress on the build thread, got busy with work and family. Then i started working on the a123 packs for this plane and my TB 260.
So back to the build. The deck inside the plane is covered with ultra cote but you can see several precut slots for strapping in the tank and batteries. The plane comes with a 50 ounce tank which I mounted using Panduilt cinch straps. Then I mounted the Badger switch from Fromeco, the openings are precut on both sides of the fuselage just cut away the covering. Next was the DA 150 ![]() I used 3/4 inch stand-offs and the thrust angle is already on the pre-built firewall. I used 10-32 bolts with nylock nuts. I added a piece of carbon laminated balsa to mount the ignition using velcro straps. I took Bill's advice on the exhaust and installed front in rear out cannisters in the tunnel. Threw a 8611a on the throttle and moved over the the rudder for a few minutes. The rear deck has cut outs for 3 servos on a pull-pull rudder setup. I am going to start with (2) 8711's on the rudder and add another later if necessary. |

For those interested, I am using a123 packs I built. The packs are 4600 mha 2s2p. The issue I was chasing was that wanted to be able to charge the entire pack at once with a single FMA 4s charger for a balance charge. This was a tricky on to figure out, I had to call Dick Hanson and it took some time but we figured it out. I'm going to send the pics to Dick so he can toss them up on a thread. Here are couple of picks.

Well, I think she is ready to fly.
I did swap out the 3/4 inch stand offs for 1/2 inch, it's a better fit with 1/2. I got the a123 packs build and installed with a Smart-Fly power expander and Fromeco switches. I cut an opening in the bottom of the cowl for venting, notice I left the lip on as it will create a low pressure behind it and draw the air out of the cowl. On the pull-pull I used a piece of nyrod as a guide where the cable enters the fuselage and a little CA to keep it in place. I used 1/16th balsa to close off the openings on the motor box and a little white ulrta-cote to close the openings from the engine compartment to the rest of the fueselage. |

If anyone has any questions about the plane or wants to see some specific pictures of it, don't hesitate to post. I'm going to try to make some room in the garage to get it on the scale and see what the RTF weight is.
Since there is about 2 feet of snow here, I may be heading to St. George to get some flights on it. |

Almost forgot....BAFFLE
Here are some pics of the baffle I installed. I usually start with just a deck and then box in above and sides later if needed. |
