Hey Dave,
38lbs is about right with your setup. We were pretty conservative with weights on both aircraft. Ken |

After checking the weather charts, it looks like Thursday or Friday I will head to Vegas. Nothing but continued snow here for the week.
![]() I'll probably take Sweatpea's suggestion and hit the North Vegas field. Anyone interested in meeting up with me an showing me around? |

You should have been there today! It was cloudy in the morning and about 45-50....but by 1pm the sun came out and the temps rose to about 55. Hardly a breeze today.
I have to work Thurs-Fri......but Frank should be at the field those days in the morning.

MAIDEN FLIGHT
So I went to St. George to get the maiden flight on the Edge. If you have not flown at the Remote Possibilities airfield you should give a try, great field and really good people. Here are a few pics, video will follow soon. Flight Report: After the first couple flights I decided my setup was very nose heavy. If you are only planning to use 1 elevator servo per side, be sure to move your batteries back as far as you can. After a quick CG adjustment and running a couple tanks through the new DA (Thanks Bill Higgins) I decided to wring the sucker out. The rudder is VERY authoritative as is the elevator, I lowered the rates on both for IMAC style flying. 3D rates are also very strong but plane is so forgiving and stable I found myself flying like I had flown it for years. For those that voiced concerns about the strength of the buildup wings, I slammed this sucker into several parachutes, blenders and pop ups. I have no worries about what the wings will withstand. I'm going to take it out again this weekend and get more video and spend some time dialing in the rates. |

Very nice and congratulation on the maiden, I am working on mine, I used 2 8611 per elevator half and 2 8711 per aileron, will work on the rudder today.
I was very very surprised with the quality of that airplane.

A little more info on first flights while I try to get the video together.
Trim = 1 click up and 1 click right Pitch couple = None Roll couple = So slight I'm not even going to try to mix it. Landings = Extremely slow, almost hands off landings. Snap Rolls = get a shovel and dig them babies as deep as you want, the plane doesn't mind a bit. Harriers = rock solid with no wing rock, even with my setup being nose heavy. Torque Rolls = Seemed to just want to sit on the sweet spot. More to come

VIDEO
I need to pre-apologize for the shaky video, the only thing that was usable from the video was torque rolling and such. It appears the guy with the camera was a bit nervous. I'll get better footage this weekend. |

I was just wondering if you went with the 2 servo's per aileron and if you think that is enough? I am really looking at this plane and would like to only use 2 8711's per aileron instead of the 3. Did I read it right that you used only 1 8711 on each elevator half as well? Just wondering what worked for you on what looks like an awesome first flight.

Sorry, I read back on the thread. If one is going to use just 2 JR 8711's on the ailerons, would it hurt to put one all the way out near the tip and the other in the closest to the root? Just seems like it leaves a lot of aileron out there if you use the closer two bays. But hey, you are doing the testing so I am going to go with your advice.
