2 8711's are certainly strong enough. The concern was that the ailerons are very light weight and might flex or worse. I would recommend (3) 8611a's, I would hate to tell you to use 2 servos and have something bad happen. I placed my servos in the middle compartment and the inboard compartment as the aileron is the largest (bearing more load) is those areas. I'd rather have the thick part of a aileron moving a smaller part. I'll be flying more this weekend and provide more video and data. |

Jason,
A lot of guys are going with two. We do recommend three for the ailerons. As Dave mentioned that is one the reasons, use at your own risk. Second, overall performance of the control surface. This plane is obviously bigger than the average 40% out there and it has longer ailerons that are built up. Even if there is no issue using two, there is still going to be some flexing under high loads. Besides, I guarantee you 3 servo equaling 700oz will feel better and crisper than two at 800oz. As many are starting to finding out, this is a pretty killer aircraft, so why not have it operate at full potential. Ken |

No thanks, I would not want to know what goes on back there... Last time I was in the back of his truck he was saying something like "I'm Leaking I'm Leaking"

On a similar note, I flew this plane with almost all 8711's and my Troybuilt with all 8611a's; both powered by the a123 packs. POWER CONSUMPTION: 8711's - 510 mha per flight 8611a's - 245 mha per flight 8711's are strong but they also have a big appetite. |

And I'm still mad about you converting me to DA. Ignorance was bliss ![]() For those that don't know, back in September while at Huck Fest in Vegas, I ran into engine problems.........again. The engine was not a DA, it was another brand that shall remain nameless. This very well could have been an opportunity for them to take shots at the maker of this engine and beat them down publicly, they didn't. Instead they very kindly offered an engine so I could make an objective decision on the quality of their engines vs. the engines I was using. Long story short, I tried to beat the crap out of the engine, even to the point of Leseberg flying it for his freestyles in the shootout. I hung it on the prop for nearly an entire flight to see if I could hurt it. For 6 years I have flown another brand of engine very loyally, it only took flying a DA for a few months to realize that between the quality of the product and the superior service, Desert Aircraft is the place to be. I'm a simple guy, I don't care about "brand wars" or who is offering a "free ride" or even the name stamped on the product. I want what works well and a company with good customer service. Thanks again Bill and Dave and everyone at DA, also thanks to PAU (Ken and Herve) who's products and service are outstanding. exit soap box stage left ![]() David Fox |

As for the Edge I installed 2 8711 on each aileron one near the tip and the other close to the fuse, 2 8611 a per elevator, 2 8711 on the rudder, I should have the plane ready in 2 to 3 weeks time and I will report.

Use a 90 mm drop on the headers, and I am running the MTW 110 rear exit, fits perfectly.
