I used kevlar cord on my Ulti for the flying wires. The set up time is an honest 25min to a 1/2 hour depending how many people want to stop you to talk about how beautiful your plane is. Tear down is 15min at best. All worth the 45min total for a day of flying this airplane that act's like a Porshe Carera GT2 in the air. Trust me it's worth it. CHRIS

The flying wires are not hard to configure at all. You really can't install them the wrong way. You need to put screws into the struts if you have the wires or not. You set the length of the wires when you build the plane so they tighten as you tighten the screws into the struts. I could easily put mine together in 15 minutes and take it down in 10. On another note, I just started using a PAU 28 3Db prop on my DA-100. It is turning 6400 rpm and I really like it for 3D. I replaced a 27x10 Menz and will be keeping this on for awhile

Anyone know what the drop length for cans is if using a DA or DL 100? Also, a picture of your motor mounted would be nice as well.

Hi Anthony,I send to you the picture of my set up for K&S canister 86-v4. I use it with a ZDZ 100cc ng black head with good succes. It pull my 34 pounds bipe with a vess 27a prop with great autority, half trottle to hover and pull out really fast.

The header are made with K&S L shape tubing cut to size and engine stub weld in place with
K&S rod and propane welding torch.
I just enlage the holes in bulkhead just enough to squeeze silicone tubing around the canister.
I install also another bulkhead on the reinforcement in the center of canister.
In the back of canister I put a light ply stopper to be sure it dont pull back.
I open the bottom of fuselage monokote to exit hot air.
After all set up I inject some silicone sealant to fix the canister to bulkhead.
This setup work fine for me for number of plane, with no failure for over total of 1000 flights.

Thank you for the pictures Denis. I was not sure how much room under the engine one would have, but it looks like lots of room. Do you know what drop header you are using (distance from exhaust flange down to the middle of the pipe going back?

Hi Ultimate,

You did a great job setting yours up with the cans, nice work. I am a little perplexed about your weight. I also have a ZDZ 100 in mine and it weighs 27lbs. While not the most powerful 100 out there it does run pretty darn good and is pretty lite. I will say that if my Ultimate was as heavy as yours, I would have some serious power issues and that weight with the ZDZ. You do however have quite a bit more stuff in yours. My DA-85 makes quite a bit more power than the ZDZ and is a good choice for this aircraft as well. The ZDZ is a nice light motor that runs very, very well. Anyway, glad to know you are happy with it.

Antony, the drop is not strait but it is 80mm, and as you can see on the pics the canister inlet is not
center.
If anyone can weight your wing panel mine are 2 pound each on a postal scale.
That's include a regular servo at 2 ounces and the extension wire.

I will do a video next year to show how well it fly.

A guy happy with it.

Heres a few pics of mine in the process of getting "canned". I will have everything to finish up the cans tomorrow. Then a few hours in the oven. They weigh 6.7oz each and are way over built. The next set should weigh 5.5oz each. I'm projecting a total of 10oz weight gain and a small boost in performance. We'll see......

After looking at the data logger, (from last year) the average was 6319rpm on a 28-10 mejzlik. This was averaged from initial run ups and "hot" run ups (after a 10min flight) over 3 flights. This was with the "stock" BME mufflers with about 3/4" cut off the ends. The airplane was very LOUD in this config. Looking to get rid of the noise and get a "small" boost in performance.

Do you know what the Db was? The cans should quiet it down. They look very nice from the pictures. Keep us posted.
