Default Hi everyone! Macomb, MI

This is my New Years Goal! To learn how to build and fly these large scale birds. So very excited to find "Flying Giants" while surfin, trying to find out info on RC gas engines. I'm getting into plane because the fascinate me, especially the large ones. I did not know how large till I got on this site. I have to give it up to all of you, what fantastic looking planes!!! I hope down the line I'll be able to post some of my project, maybe not so large to start. I have no experience in flying, unless you count the 5 sec it took to crash and burn a small school project...it involve an RC plane, and my small kids. Small box frame kit ( I still have it after 14 years) .049 eng??? Bee type motor, foam wings ...it went straight up and then down as I frantically tried to get it leveled. So we fast forward 14 years to now. This is going to be a calming hobby right? I do have a local club "Fraser Flying Club". I'm joining this month. Hey, everyone thank you for you time!

Hey WJ,

Great to have you here!!

I used to live up that way, over in Lenox Twp. There's a bunch of guys in your area, some fly at Fraser some in Romeo and some at RCCD in Lenox. I used to belong to RCCD and Fraser and also flew in Romeo, you'll find all the help you need to get you in the air at any one of those clubs.

Remember one thing, the Flying Giants isn't about giant scale, we're all about anything that flies, from foamies to giant scale, heli's to blimps...we love 'em all!!!

Welcome to the Giants!!!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I looked at your profiles....dudes "Large planes"! I very excited to do this, and yes I have spent some time at the Prop Shop these last few weeks. Wennie (?) and her husband, the staff have been very helpful. As for those clubs, for sure Fraser is in. The others I'll have to check out. As for "yu all"...living in ATL (use to live in Conyers Georgia) and TX, our Southern States I'm missing your warm climate as I had to shovel snow this morning. I'll be looking for some advice and hope to pick you brains in the future in regards to all thing that fly, and yeah.."GAS ENGINES". I've made up my dream list of thing to get, and I see that in my future. I know start small, I will. Thanks again.

About 1989 worked for Eastern Airlines in ATL...Jan it snowed like 3-5 inches and the city closed down. Cars seemed to crawl, you could have walked faster. 3 day after I was in my shorts and the schools just outside ATL was still closed for another 4 days after that. I miss GA Can I ask you when a Airplane needs a 30-35 cc gas motor. What does cc mean. This will be for a 1/4 Balsa USA Spad? Any suggestions?
