Richland Contest
The season’s last contest was intense, educational, and mostly just plain fun. The weather was excellent. The spaghetti dinner Saturday was exceptionally good. The food all weekend was just right. I thank the Higgins field members for their time and effort in preparing the field. This was my first visit to Higgins field and was I impressed. The runway orientation, the well keep grass, the trees to block the wind and provide shade, the rug covered tables and stands, the combination of grass and asphalt runway everything was well thought out. The field represents your members well and I think you have a field you should be very proud of. Bill and Sherry you ran a first class contest and I appreciate all of your hard work. You made it look easy when we all know it’s not. Everything was on time and ran like a Swiss no, no, a German watch. Bill thanks for all the encouragement and help. You guys are great. Keith, I think the Northwest IMAC Region for a beginner basic pilot is the best place to learn. During the course of the year there was not one member that was not willing to spend time answering questions, offer tools, and sometimes spare parts. I think you are President of a region that represents the best people can be. Every contest I attended has had competent Contest Directors that ran organized and professional events that I have enjoyed and fell good to be part of. The Basic Class of 2010 has some really good pilots that I love to compete against. I think the Basic Class of 2011 will be bigger and even more competitive. I thank you for tips you have given me, your hard work and your leadership. Max, Trevor, Gale get your planes ready, because I will be hunting for you next year. I will keep in touch. It’s too bad the season is over. To Dale, Big Bob, Rick, Alex, and the guys at my Medford home field I appreciate how you helped to educate, train and keep me on the right track. Big Bob you were right about flying with higher winds. Because I didn’t listen, no high wind experience cost me big time at this contest. If it were not for Jeff calling for me I would have had serious problems. Bob thanks for tutoring the past few months. You help me to get out of last place and become competitive. Big thanks to you. Jeff kept me in the completion and taught me rudder corrections under pressure that were invaluable to me. Jeff I will never forget the last three flights of this contest. Jeff called for me even though I know trying to call my Basic routine and help me fly and then go next to fly his unknowns must have been difficult. Jeff you’re a good guy. Dale thanks for the Hanger 9 tail wheel assembly. The day before I was to leave for Richland I broke the tail wheel. Dale offered me a new one still in the package. We drove to his house came back to the field install the wheel made one more practice flight. Had it not been for Dale I may not have had a chance to compete. Dale you’ve made it fun to come to the field and practice. Wait till next year. Last edited by pkchapman; 09-27-2010 at 05:46 PM. |

John and all,
First off, thanks for your support at Richland and ALL of the other contest I got to. It has been a very lean year business wise but the IMAC crowd really came through for me. Special thanks to Steve and John for the business late in the year. It really helped out. John is buying the shirts so he is the boss. All you winners will be getting IMAC NW t-shirts. Please go to these two links to choose your color. My website is not up to date so please choose from these and e-mail me your choice http://www.sanmar.com/sanmar-servlet...d=624&top=Yice http://www.sanmar.com/sanmar-servlet...atid=624&top=Y Lastly I want to thank the folks at Higgins Field. Were they awesome or what??!! They turned a good weekend into a GREAT weekend for me. Thanks! Chris |

Paul - I love your enthusiasm !! Stick with it and recruit more enthusiasts when you can. You'll find that you keep learning more and more ways to improve you flying, and just when you think you're doing well, you start flying in different wind conditions and learn even more - it keeps it very interesting. Just when I thought I was burned out and slept through the first half of the season I got back in and realized again that I can't seem to get enough of this !!
Chris, thank you - I'm glad to be of a little bit of help and hope to do something similar again next year. I hope other people follow suit. It seems the only clothing I have is what I manage to collect, or have donated, or win in drawings at contests.

Thank you everyone for a great event. I really wish i would have gotten into IMAC sooner. You are a great group of people and I look forward to spending my weekends with you guys next season. I would like to especially thank Keith (Coach) Bodeau for all your help and guidance getting me flying and helping me learn the right way to fly.
It was quite funny that Jeff M. thought Keith was my dad. I am sure it must have been the similarities of my flying skills (yeah right , but beyond that.... I dont know what he was thinking??? John: Thank you for the IMAC shirt sponsor. Also, can you post all of the pictures you took over the weekend. I am sure you were able to get some good ones. Max: Sorry you had plane issues for your last flight. It would have been a close race and who knows what the outcome would have been had you been able to complete your last two sequences. |

Trevor, I will post them up when I get a chance. I'd be happy to post up any other photos on my server as well that anyone wants to contribute for any contest this year. I put up tons of pictures last year and they're still there. Last year I never got the scoop on how to post them to the mini-iac site. This year it appears Peter Butscheck (sp?) knows how to post them up though...

Can anyone tell me the Seniors results ?
If you didn't have a T-Shirt to claim for 1st through 3rd in your flying class already, and you were 1st though last in the Seniors Class at regionals - Chris and I are going to hook you up with an IMAC-NW T-shirt. You gotta claim it quickly though. 10-31 is the deadline. Just email Chris and tell him your size and color preference and tell him to put it on my tab. John |

![]() ![]() Yes I can get the pictures posted. If you could send them to me I'll be happy to do it. I have posted most of the pictures I've received but do not always get them from some events. I'm sure there are many ways to send pics. One easy method is to use "YouSendIt.com". Simple, free and sends up to 100 mb file sizes at a time. Send em and I'll post em ![]()

Wow, what at year it has been! I have to say that this season has been one of the best for me. This group of class act people that make all of this happen deserve a big huge thanks. That is all of the pilots that put all of the effort into getting to the contests, the CD's, and there wives, that without them we would not have contestes, all of the host clubs that give up a whole weekend of flying at there own field, IMAC central for organizing and getting the Unknowns out to each and every contest, and last and most of all Keith Bodeau for keeping us all on the right track over and over again. You do more for all of us here in the NW than any of us know and I for one appreciate it so very much. It will be very difficult for the next NW director to follow in you and Kevins footsteps. I look forward to the day that we all meet again. I am very proud to call each and everyone of you my friends and extended family.
