Darren, please share with us if they find anything wrong with the 9303. My dad and I have been flying that same radio for a couple years now and we've heard of a couple unexplained crashes with that same set up, more or less. In fact Kevin's 9303 he used for his heli crapped out on him just a while back, not in flight though. Send Cheri our regards, it always sucks when something unexplained like that happens.

Darrin,
That really sucks. Sorry for your loss.
Like Matt said, we're flying the same set-up. This past weekend our 50cc Yak's throttle developed a mind of its own but luckily it was on the ground. The throttle servo just went crazy. It works ok without the engine running. Sounds like rf noise from the ignition but, I thought 2.4 was immune to that??? Been flying the same set-up for awhile with no problems until yesterday.
Please keep us posted on what Horizon says.

X9303 has a problem with wires around the Gimbel's rubbing through the insulation, fix is tape, it's listed on a thread on FG. The battery plug has known to cause intermittent problems. Not binding after a transmitter control change may cause unpredictable results.

I've heard of some cold solder joint issues too. Sorry about the plane, glad no one was hurt.

I have a buddy here that lost control for a moment on a JR 9303. Sent the receiver in and HH found nothing wrong with it. Someone else got a lock out on Spectrum 2.4 a few weeks later. Hmmmm.....

Well I think I may have found the problem. The ignition was a melted welded white glob. I will try and post some pics. You may think this happend when it hit however I have some evidence to the contrary. The sensor on the hub was also melted. And it had left a plastic rub on the hub. Something you would not find after the impact but evidence of an airborn event.
The question is can an ignition going bad and frying in the air take the plane down. I believe I have read that can happen.
I checked the reg to the ignition (intact) It worked fine showing 5.98 volts.
Anyway any thoughts are appreciated. Cheri will be flying the 35 percent sd models. Glad no one bought it.
We will go from that to the Godfrey when she is ready.
Thanks for the posts everyone.
See ya

Darrin, let me know if you or Cheri need anything to get going again. Engines, servos, airframes, etc.

In case anybody in the Portland area missed this, the President is going to be in town. That means no flying after 5:00 pm until 8:30pm. Everyone probably got an e-mail by now but here it is:

Check back often for the most current NOTAM/TFR information.

Timely alerts are also available on the web at: www.modelaircraft.org/membership/clubs/notams.aspx or on you cell phone at: Twitter.com/amagov.
See the link to the TFR below for more detailed information regarding the restrictions.

I personally would love the attention of a military escort to land my rc plane or heli. What would be cooler is an apache firing a maverick at my heli and seeing it explode. That would be worth the cost of admission.

Who thinks they could get their 15 minutes of fame this way. ??? I say don't count on it.
