Watch this one!!!!!

Aerobatics_Kirby.wmv

Until just a few years ago, airplanes physically could not do what you
will see this one do

It is still hard to believe even when you see this in person.

This is all real and there is no trick photography.

Not only is the airplane unbelievable but the pilot is also
taking g-forces between about +8 and -4.

The airplane is an Edge 540 manufactured in Guthrie , Oklahoma .

The engine is 540 cu. inches, 10.5:1 compression ratio, has a
Cold Air induction System and is fuel injected ... engine preparation done
by Barrett Precision Engines. It makes 320 BHP @ 2850 RPM and weighs 385
lbs. The airplane can fly vertically until it runs out of gas.

The pilot is Kirby Chambliss - he is a Red Bull pilot and Captain
for Southwest Airlines.

Mike I would have to agree with John. Takes much more time and money to be effective and successful in Pattern. My knowledge of the sport is limited to those who do it at the fields I fly. This is just an opinion I base on talking with those who do it. I paint the planes for a guy out at Molalla and you would be very surprised as to the cost. Last one I did was $3,000.00 just for the fuse and that is out of the box. No paint, no set up. all it takes is the wrong measurement and you are stuck with a very expensive paper weight. Anyway it is a challenge that in knowing you as little as I do you would be very frustrated moving into that aspect of the hobby. Also the folks into pattern take competition to a different level then what you know and love about IMAC. Again just an opinion but I would encourage you to look into it.

Mike I was under the same impression but I know better now. It seems like a top of the line pattern plane can cost as much if not more as a Carden.

John I had a good time too. You're welcome to come by anytime.

Dave V, says top of the line pattern planes are quite a bit less than top of the line 40% IMAC planes. Also - if you were to bust into pattern and kick some butt, there would be a lot of crying going on. For that reason you should consider leaving those guys alone.

LOL !!!
