lb it looks like you are running stock mufflers on you 260. recon that is why you had to move everything up front?
Just asking because i am running the mtw cans on mine. |

great to hear extra, can't wait to hear from you after the maiden.
Back to the build,I preped all the parts to the rudder tray by sanding all the glue joints and where the servo mount doubler will be glued. I then glued the doubler to the back of the servo mount with some five minute epoxy, after that has cured, I placed the mounts in the side frame to check fit then mixed some milled glass with resin and glued the hole thing together |

after that I mixed some resin, milled glass and micro-balloons and filled in all the corners on the inside,
I then glued the formers to the tray, after sanding them to fit, and glued the tray in with epoxy, after that dried I mixed up some more resin and micro-milled glass and filled in those corners where they meet the fuse and formers, cut some woven glass to fit bottom of tray bolt sides, front and back formers and glassed the formers and tray to the bottom of the fuse, I had to mount the tray to make room for the cans. the black you see in the phot is after I sanded the fuse i clean up with acetone and it dicolored the fuse SH@#, at least you will not see it unless you are looking inside the fuse. |

lazyboy hold your horses I am getting to it.
Today I decided to mount the engine.................Boy was that a pain in the A$$.... marked ckecked and double checked all measurements... they looked good. Drilled the first hole hole looked good drilled the second hole the beast showed me her teeth.Packed engine off and took a double look, was not happy, spinner was 5 mm lower than the cowl, some I marked bottom holes and worked my way to the top holes. now I am happy where it ended up. I will tackle the cans tomorrow. Last edited by eagle1; 02-01-2008 at 09:09 PM. |

The motor alignment looks perfect. What cans are you using? I'm using a solid backplate with my spinner too.

I will be using the MTW cans on this plane as well, I have them on both my 2.6's, I like them soo far, I will not get anything done to the plane today I will be back on it tomorrow for sure, I don't know it might be possible to get the holes cut in the motor dome for the cans and headers at least for today, just two big holes.
The back plate is not going to be solid, this is just a spinner I have laying around, I'm not sure if I will buy a new spinner or send this one off to have the slots opened up and to have the back plate lightened. |

Well now that was easy and fast, I don't know about you guys but when I have to cut glass like that I use a mill bit in the dremel tool, keeps the dust down along with the itching.
I first marked the inside line 1/8" from the center carbon tape on the inside of the fuse, then marked the outside line to 2 1/8". Started the right hole first, my dremel tool has a light on it and if you will look real close you can see the LED"S in the cap I am wearing, Pretty cool HUH!, made both cuts following the marks I have made within 1/16" then cleaned up the edges with my trusty t-bar sander, and a piece of con-do-it with sand paper glued to the tube for the curves. The mounts they provide are not cut out big enough to accept the cans 110's mtw. I will sand these out as well tomorrow and the I might fit the rudder servos in the tray, and the aileron servos. |

not much left to mess up all the hardest stuff is done, the only holes that are left to cut is the slots for the pull-pull wires and the servo wires wings and elev, fuel line, over flow, fuel dots.I will make mounts for powerbox and batteries as I progress.I was reading the instructions and it tells me to put two mounts on the cans in front of the landing gear, and one under the wing tube, the cans are not long enough to reach the wing tube. One of these must be removable in my opinion just in case I need to pull the cans all the way out without alot of cutting and reglassing.

I have the cans fitting in the mounts and I had to cut 3/4" off the right side header to get everthing to line up the way I wanted.
I also had to bend the headers about 1/2" up to get the cans above the landing gear support. I mounted the 3 Futaba 9156's in the rudder tray. now I can get some measurments to order the alu minum servo arms and the turn buckles. I will order the carbon tail wheel assembly next week and may even order my 12z radio, along with the powerbox royal. |

I put the fuel tank tray together, first I pre-fit all the parts, then removed all the pieces to sand all glue edges.
glued the tray together with medium CA then mixed some resin,micro-milled glass, used this to fill all the corners, when this dries I will install the tray above the wing tube socket. |
