That's not really impressive...

In fact, with the exception of the tight radius turns due to thrust vectoring, the 1960's designed F-15 can do all that. If you want to see real jet 3D flight, check out the F-22.

AHHHHHH The old saying certainly comes to the fore here 50.

Ignorance is Bliss. Dont let patriotism blind your ability to see what's over the horizon.

The SU35 with the latest thrust vectoring system leaves the F22 in the dust as far as an all out 3D fighter jet and that unfortunately is the opinion of many of the major military powers these days.

Perhaps you would like to post a vid showing your super F22 doing the full tilt boogie and then see what comes from the other side of the Atlantic to show what the Sukhoi lads have up the sleeve.

Seriously they are both extremely agile airplanes but dont write the Sukhoi off mate. And as for a 1960's F15 doing better than that, show me!!!!

Ronster,

Interesting statements from a Russian General some weeks back regarding that sort of subject.

He said the state of ECM's to evade being shot down pretty much is at a stalemate between the two major powers. The ability to shoot over the horizon is nullified by the ECM systems on board the aircraft so his logic was if the long way away stuff runs out then its going to have to be in close and tight.

Its an interesting concept given that the ECM's are nearly always in advance on the weaponry being fired, god help that it never ever comes to fruition, the old in close and hanging it all out dog fight may in fact be what it turns out to be.

It makes even more sense when you ask yourself why both major powers are hell bent on designing aircraft that dont fly conventionally anymore as there is no missile in the world that can play tag with the SU35 or the F22 anyway.

Kiwi, I'm sorry for disrupting this thread, but I felt the need to put it into perspective. I'll have to look for a video of the F-15, but as far as the SU35 being better than the F-22, my question is why do you think that the SU35 will "leave the F22 in the dust". The SU35, last I heard, was flying at 100% of it's potential in airshows. Now I could be wrong on that, I don't know. I do know that the F22 flys at 30% of what it can do.

I'm terribly sorry. Yes, he can fly. I took your post to mean that the SU35 was the greatest plane to ever grace the skys because it could fly 3D.

That's cool. Does the plane have thrust vectoring, or does all that pitch control come from the canards? I'm pretty sure the F-22 can do that, but the US gov. is tight-lipped about the capabilities of their new toys. The flight computers should keep the Raptor flying no matter how the pilot mashes the controls. "Full scale huckin'..."

No expert here but I have watched both fly and as a pilot I'd have to say if I wanted to put on a good airshow and toss a fighter jet around with great 3d type manouverability I'd choose the SU 35 hands down. If I had to go to war, its a no brainer... Raptor.
