I found an individual selling a brand new O.S. 81FS-a for 60 bucks less than what tower wants for it and I should have it by the weekend. These are supposed to be very clean for glow motors with no breather and a v. stack to keep the carb from spitting fuel and have the power of the 91 to boot. Not as cheap or clean as gasoline but I think any gasser for a 4-5 pound plane is going to affect the cg and wingloading and limit the planes performance.

If your Saito keeps dying it either needs adjusted or the valves need ran, Saito's just dont die. OS makes and ok engine, but they are heavier and dont put out the power of the Saito (size for size), however, i dont think you could go wrong with the new OS. If you want to sell the .82 pm me. Good luck with the new power, let us know how it performs.

With the lovely weather here in Ohio I don't know how soon I will get it in the air but I will definitely fire it up and get it ready and make a prop selection. I have a 14x4 and a 15x6 on hand but I think a 15x4 may be a good one to try too.

Yeah, the weather in Oklahoma hasn't been very pilot friendly lately either, terrible winds and not as warm as I like it, but hey, it is winter. I think you are probably right with the 15 x 4 (maybe a 15 x 4w), it should give you crazy power and great response.

I managed to get 4-5 flights in today with the new O.S. 81 and and very pleased with the performance. I switched to a smaller 8oz. tank and have it up against the wingtube as far back as possible, set my timer for 12 minutes for now and have about 1/3 left after landing. Not much throttle is needed unless going straight up. The 15x4W didn't arrive in time so I flew the 14x4W and set it for 10,300 on the ground and I could have gotten more I'm sure but it was running good and it's too cold out anyhow. In the air it really sounds like its unloading so I think the 15 inch prop is a good choice. The first flight was up about 30-50 feet just in case but after that I could tell there wouldn't be any trouble so the remaining flights ranged from 6" to full throttle climbs and never a hickup. With a couple more oz. on the nose it is a little nose heavy for my liking and the light battery doesn't help with cg changes so a 2nd elevator servo may go in for some tailweight.

I got 2 flights in this weekend and gotta say its much better then before. I replaced the huge tank with a 12oz tank. Its still a little nose heavy in flight but much better. I dont have my tank to the wing tube. Its about a inch away. Im gonna guess that if i move it back it might be perfect. The reason i put the tank ahead like that was because i didnt want it to be too far back and need a pump. I'll fly it some more like this and then move the tank back and make sure the engine likes it.

Overall the plane flies really smooth and does a great knife edge. The inverted flat spin is ok but the nose is done a bit. The cg and the lack of throw on my elevator might be the problem with that.
What size arms are you using? I'm gonna get 1.25".

I am using the karbonite arms that come with the 5955 since I always use aluminum on my bigger models I have a lot of these laying around. I guess they would be considered 1.25" even though from center-center they measure 1.125". I have bevel to bevel throws on the elevator and even a little nose heavy the flat spins are flat and slow so that should help. One more thing I forgot to mention is aileron differential... do you have any? I'm going to need some. Just wonder if everyone else is too. My throws are equal.

I am thinking the OS .55 will lighten up the front end a bit so that the tank is closer to it and hopefully will draw fuel without the need for a pump.
