This is how my last one turned out as a result of a damaged RF board in my DX7... almost won my clubs crash of the year with this one! It went in on a downline when I lost everything, engine just idling and everything.

Got my Extra back into the air on a snowy airfield. Flew great, and guess what - while landing, undercarriage tore apart the bottom of the fuse. Need to make a new ply mount and I've been thinking about making the UC from a hard wire - should be more flexible than carbon version.

Meanwhile I've bought a Funtana S with OS FS 91. 1.7m wingspan, 3200g AUW
It's not going to help me repair my Extra

Still waiting on my extra...
Anyway, what lipo receiver packs and regulators are you guys using? Would like to ditch my NiMH setup. |

Grab the awesome Castle 10amp reg. I realize 10 amps is way overkill but the Castle is only 20 bucks and is the size if a stick of trident gum. Tiny... and simple. My local HObby town has em in stock because the R/C car guys use them. The default (stock) output voltage is 6v. If you want a different voltage you will need to get a Castle programmer. I just run the 6v. The hitec servos are happy and so is the spektrum 7100.
Edit/add. I also run a turnigy 8amp reg/bec from Hobbycity. It works well but is kind of big and is double the weight of the castle. Running lipo/ion in all my planes now. worry free charging and light. Will never look back. |

Thanks, I actually picked up a smart-fly reg after talking to the guys over there. And for reference, I just took a look at that castle reg you mentioned. The default voltage is 5.1v, so if you are looking for a bit more out of those servos, the programmer may be your ticket.
