Im glad Tman added to the propellar discussion. He somewhat validated my suspisions. The 22x8 & Vess 23a are going to be your 3D props. And the 22b or 22-10 will be your IMAC props. The Mej may be as effecient as the Vess, meaning they provide equal thrust. But the Vess will provide more prop-wash which increases control throw effectiveness at low airspeeds.

Guess I'll order up a 22B for comparison. Still want to try the Menz 22-23/8-10's

Roof Roof Dawgs,
Wat it du. It's your boy with greats news. My engine has been running nice. Did the first run on the ground as stated previously. During the second five minute run, I did a needle adjustment and tached the motor. Top end RPM was 6400. SOund similiar. I could tell the difference on the low end. I was taching a 1500 rpm idle.

Today I had an opportunity to take Honzo up again. The first start was a non-event. I was ready to fly after a normal starting procedure. Did alot of laps around the sky to burn fuel, came in fifteen minutes later, refueled, and the engine started on the first flip. Flew again, landed, fueled, and it started on the first flip--again. Took it very easy on the engine. I didnt hover once. It is really boring to just fly straight lines. I noticed my heart didn't beat as hard. I didn't get that adrenaline rush as much as I do when Im on the deck.

It runs rich in the lower-mid range, otherwise top-end and idle is very consistant. Upright flat spins are nice, however, my inverted spins are not as flat as desired. It seems the spinner has to come off. And I am going to put the 22x8. I noticed the Vess is loading the engine down during transitions. It's not ready for the Vess yet. I cant do 3D for another gallon, so I don't need the Vess.

Aprx. 1 Hour TT:
There is something that I found interesting about todays flying and amp draw. I charge my batteries with a triton. I did not do any 3D and it showed up in amp draw. On the ignition, I usually put 800-1000amps back in the battery. Today I only had to put 452. I usually put 900-1100 back into each RX battery. Today I put back in 429. (Wolvering Switch is Awesome)

Long story short. I could understand why some people can fly all weekend on a single charge. I would be lucky to get 1.5hrs.

His is a link to the Yak flying in South Africa. I tried to access it from the Dawghouse support forum but it would not load. I did a little searching and found it. It is nice to see what the Yak is capable.

Porky's Revenge-the dawg bites back. Hey EF Extra, move over bacon, hear comes something leaner. Im sizzlene biaotch. I do not know where you read the Dawghouse Yak is a porker. Have you been following the EF Extra 300 thread. For a while there they did not want to disclose wieght, but when it was all said and done, the reported weights were all over 18lbs. One reported wieght was 19lbs. Stock and with an emaculent power system, my yak came out lighter than the EF Yak and Extra.

My AUW wieght right now is 17.5. I took the spinner off the front and opened up the vents in the cowl. It seems the EF stuff are the porkers and not the dawgs.

Below you will find the post that I am referring too...

First Miss Piggy came in at 18.3LB
Then Miss Piggy gained wieght 19LB
Called Jenny Craig and wieght 17.25-serious wieght saving measures

Don't believe the hype. A dawg is a man's best friend...

no offense but the extrem flight products are much larger and have a much larger wing area. I have both the dawghouse yak 55 and the extreme flight yak 54 no comparision in size it looks like the extreme flight should weigh more

I only made a wieght comparison. No offense taken. Yes I agree. They are much bigger than the Dawhouse Yak and look like they should wiegh more. The Dawg barely fits in my car. Nothing is perfect and everything comes with sacrifices. I'm sure you're happy with both.

This is crazy !! I searched FG for this thread because I can now post my AUW. I thought my scales were broke. I get 16 LBS even with no spinner. I had planned to come on here and see if anyone else was getting anything close to this.

With Black Birds post and knowing he has more in his I can feel comfortable with my scales reading. I'm thinking WOW ! A 87" plane coming in under 18lbs by this far ! MY 27% Midwest Extra with Moki 1.80 weighs 15lbs. It's 81 inches.

Stock hardware

DL 50 stock muffler

NIMH batts 2000 (rec) and 1200 (ign)

2-JR HD switches

4-HS 645 MG

1-HS 5645 MG

1-NES-507

Dubro large scale fueler

B&B 16 oz tank

Vess 23 A

Plenty of foam security blankets and tie wraps

Yeah I kinda am. I'm not a weight freak and the term "3 D" wasn't even heard of when I flew last. But, I DO like vertical ! I was always a little concerned with a 30% plane paired with a 50cc engine and fully expected this one to come in around 18lbs.

84 inch planes were coming in over 20lbs with G-62's. Shoot, I may have close to a 2 to 1 power to weight ratio which I've never had in a plane this size or larger. I'm hoping to get 25lbs thrust from the DL and Vess combo.

I've just renewed my AMA and talked to a club member at the local field and hope to maiden Sunday weather and life permitting. Still gotta seal the hinge gaps. I almost forgot. And find my programming error on the elevators, the trim doesn't operate on both servos right now.

After you posted your weight, I started wondering if I should put my plane on a diet. It always comes back down to the way I fly. You said sunday. Are you talking about in two days. I wish I could give you a pilot brief before the maiden. But I'm sure you will be fine. I read somewhere that you were considering letting someone else maiden the plane. I hope you atleast get a few laps in the pattern.

I do not suggest hovering "low" until you get more control throw. When in a hover with a Vess 23A, it takes a substantial amount of aileron deflection to stop the torque roll. I did not like the Mej. I will classify it as an IMAC prop. Thrust was adequate for the hover, but prop wash and pullout was lacking.
