Cool, I'm gonna ride the 140 + miles up there and pick mine up in the morning. Nothing like a rode trip to get new plane ! Seriously I'll save a few bucks on shipping and I'd like to check out the two schemes before choosing. Most likely the orange. Plus check out Scott's store and such and who knows, I may be able to talk the wife into a new motor on the way up ?

Hey buddy, glad you popped in. I did not want to hijack the thread, so I was just posting information and pictures of what I found interesting so far. To be honest, the plane is already sitting on the wheels. The cowl, engine, hatch, and radio equipment is all that is left to install. Besides the hatch and cowl, these are the hardest areas of the build. I will go into more detail about the overall build in the future.

More to come, along with pictures for my buddy....sundown out!!!

Waiting on a ZDZ 50NG before I start the build. I thoroughly went over the bird and I am very pleased. The only thing that might concern some is the canopy may seem to get in a bind when trying to bolt down. When you bolt it down it will start to lay flat and close the gap as mine has. The moisture in the wood from China starts to dry out on the way here and things will change.

List of my parts:

Orange YAK
ZDZ 50NG
JBM Cannister muffler
22x8 Menz Prop
2.4 ghz Futaba
JR 8711 Rudder
Hitec 5955TG Rest
Smart Fly Sports Plus
2300 A-123 Batts RX - Sin City Jets
1100 A-123 Batt IGN - Sin City Jets
Titanium Axles
PSP Wheel inserts for 4" Kavans
Misc Titanium Hardware from www.racebolts.com

Since the arbitrator has given content, I shall continue. But I am done for the day. Build day two went well--extremely well. I have not ran into a headache yet. I would like to end the day with a comment about the fit of the wings with the wing saddle. One could not ask for a better fit. The wing tube easily slid thru the fuse but was reluctant to enter the wings. I did not have any 220 grit sandpaper, so I just wiggled the tube around in the wings until the wings would accept the wing tube without undue resistance. The wing fit is nice and snug. I was worried about the anti-rotation pins not aligning properly. But the alignment is true. With my thumb against the fuse below the anti-rotation insurtion point and my two finger below the pin in the wing, I was able to slide the wing in the remainder of the way without harming the wing.(distance of one inch or less)

Re: Wizard was in the Dawghouse
Here are a few more pics. Dumb Arse me didn't think to get any photos of the inside construction. But I will say that the quality looks top notch. The included hardware kit is very complete, tank, wheels, all linkages are similar to the rocket city hardware with nylock nuts, the pushrods are all pre-cut. Carbon fiber wing and stab tubes and carbon gear.

The best part about the Yak 55sp kits right now is the price. Scott is going to be selling a few at $379.99. He is also offering a combo deal with a 3MM53 for 759.99

For the price you can't beat it.

The 68" Sukhoi I got was 219.99 + tax.

Dawghouse website isn't complete right now but He can take orders over the phone. His number is on his site, it's 317-852-4744

I might have been wrong about the gear. It was about 4 hours after I left the shop that I wrote that post. My memory could have been playing tricks on me. I'm sure that Scott will let us know for sure.

It is NOT carbon gear, it's black anodized/painted aluminum. I got back with mine this evening and they look just like your photo. The tail gear and wing/stab tubes are carbon. The anti rotation pins and hatch pins are carbon.

Upon closer inspection Im gonna go with anodized on the main gear. I like it. The black color complements the scheme well. Carbon gear is brittle and the way to go with those that have a need for the lightest plane but, I favour aluminum or glass. Of course I don't know what kind of aluminum it is, but it seems ample enough.
This plane will suffer my "getting my thumbs back" after a long layoff and I'm not anal about weight, yet !!

Yes the mains are aluminum. The tail wheel bracket is C.F. I didn't notice this in the post by wizard or I would have changed it. All the promotional material and specs show aluminum gear. If this is a problem for anybody contact me and we will see if we can work things out.
As for mounting the Tailwheel bracket on all planes we used a dab of Gorilla glue on the screws prior to assembly. I would have prefered the blind nuts but this has worked flawlessly with 100's of flights on the airplanes like this.
Also when mounting the bolt for the Tail wheel control in the rudder, there is a hole in the rudder for this, again add some CA or Gorilla gule to the hole and then screw in the bolt. This is a simple set up and works. We have had no problems with it at all.
Now for the Canopy situation. We are working out solutions for shipping to keep this from happening. Right now we are shipping replacements priority mail so call if you have a problem.
We have also found a fix for the canopy that we might implement in the future. We will see how things shape out.
