Dadgum, I must be a little more worn out than I thought !! That's exactly how I locate all the other holes in the cowl ! I use regular paper or thin cardboard to locate needle access holes, heads and mufflers. Jeez, sometimes I wonder where I am.
Thanks !!

I had a kit a while back with cowl wholes not pre-drilled. I saw someone using the thin paper method for the other areas of the cowl. I thought, why not use this method to find the cowl mount center wholes. Has worked well ever since.

"I toll u it was ol' skewl."

I am glad I could help.

Daddy has a new pull-pull. Upon further inspection of my pull, I noticed that I did not thread the cable thru the little iddy bitty, tiny winy, whole on the side of the fuse where the cable exits in the rear. So, I cut the cables and made a new set of cables. Second time is always better than the first. I can strum the cables like a guitar. Zero slop. Well, the servo does have a 2usec dead band. But, besides that, there is no slop

The stock rudder pull-pull system shows great promise. It is not flashy but does the job extremely well. My pull is tight and install is correct.

Another build day begins, and I am excited. Cowl cutting, Fuel system, Ignition and switch to install. Has anyone else had a chance to check out the videos. It looks like the plane would have no problems doing knife-edge loops. The rudder is powerful. There was some hovering, but I think Scott wanted to keep it safe on the first few flights. For a second, I thought Scott was going to do a tip touch as low as his high alpha knife-edge was. Someone yells lower in the background--sarcastic spectator.

Today is a big day for my yak. No it is not the maiden, it is time for weigh-ins. Would usually use my fish scale, but I want a more accurate all up measurement. My balance turned out well. I am just in front of the wing tube. I will take pictures of the cowl cut-outs and fuel system. I have a true turn spinner on the front. The prop clears the cowl a good three-forth inches or more.

When doing the cowl cut-outs, I did not have to make a cut-out for the velocity stack. The velocity stack clears the cowl by a quarter inch or more. The muffler exit whole can not be exact. Don't be afraid to enlarge the whole bigger than the muffler. You think the cowl is tight, wait until you try to put the cowl on with a small muffler whole.

Pics and a weight measurement to come.

Hint: it does feel a little heavy. Wait was looking good until I weighted the cowl and hatch. The weights were 13ozs and 8 ozs respectively.

Drum roll please. AUW without wheel pants is 17lbs 13ozs. Can my plane weigh less than seventeen pounds. Well one battery 3.5oz, one regulator 1.5oz, tru-turn spinner 5oz, and smaller servos? The answer is yes. But I will just take the spinner off. This is a 30% plane that weighs 17.5lbs. This is a respectable weight for a well built arf.

Pics still to come. I just had to post my weight.

The wing span is a whopping 87" with over 1400 sq inches of wing area. IT is 78" long and the propellar clears the cowl by an inch. The plane is not anerexic like my Extra. Looks like it's on creatine. It is amazing the difference two pounds can make. Everything truely went together well. The landing gear is strong and easy to assemble. Thumb screws for wing bolts. Besides the cowl, it was a stress free build. You will be flying yours before me, because I have to wait for the snow to melt. So I will rely on you and others to give flight reports.

I bought a better camera, so I will be taking some recap pictures in higher difinition. If you have any questions let me know.
