Fa Sho, I have been neglecting to take the photos. It requires me to have to take the cowl off. I will start photo graphing today. Is there anything in particular that you would like to see?

I'd kinda like to see where you mounted the switches. All my "normal" locations are all lightening holes. I guess I'll have to add a little wood.

PIC's PIC's where's the PIC's ? HA ! I'm wondering how this plane can get to almost 18lbs. with all the holes in it ! Carbon fiber tubes and tailwheel.
You did use a TOC53 right ? And I've got to have a spinner. And a pilot.
I guess I'm old school but a 87" plane that weighs 17.5 lbs sounds like 60cc material. But I have no experience with all these 50cc engines.

There are switch locations on the aircraft. They are on both sides. one on each side by the firewall. And one on each side by the turtle deck under the hatch support. Using a lightening whole, I added some wood and used the template that came with my wolvering switch to prevent interference with the pull-pull. My smart-fly switch is nessled behind it. I used the right stock switch location for my ignition and drilled a whole beside it for the LED. Works pretty well, I hope the pictures help further.

It is advertised for an engine up to 60cc. I had my TOC on my Extra. At first it weight 13lbs 10oz. Too much engine. I added more radio equipment bigger servos and a spinner and I was at 15.5. Engine still pulled it well. Now I have the same radio equipment and servos basically in the Yak 55SP. There is only a two pound difference. But the size difference is very noticable. We will have to see. I do not reccomend putting anything on this plane that weighs more than the TOC. I put everything back, and still came out forward of the wing tube. Anything heavier would make this plane very nose heavy.

Okay I see some slots next to the firewall and I reckon I'll cut out for my JR switches. There won't be much wood left. I know that structurally speaking this area is not that important but there ain't much wood so I will add a little.

I ended up with a DL going on this one so weight should not be an issue. I would like to see it under 17lbs. though. Again I am not the kind of pilot that is a weight freak. YET !

Thanks for the PIC's.

I was going to put a DL50 in mine. Should I reconsider? What other choices make sense for this plane? I don't want to make it nose heavy but power is a good thing. If I add weight over a DL50 I want it to add power too.

My all up weight is with alot of goodees. The only other things that someone could add is a smoke system or a cannister. Most 50cc airplanes come out around 18lbs. This plane is towards the upper limit of the 3d weight range of 15-18lbs for 50cc engines. Check out the Wildhare Sukhoi build thread that was done by my buddy rede2fly. The suks, similar to the yak sp, are coming out over 18lbs with a DL-50 and the engine seems to handle the plane very well. There are videos in that thread with the DL in action.

I read the TOC is sold out. I'm glad I got mine before the general public. Im happy with my engine and it seems more modelers are taking advantage of Scott's cost consicious offerings.

Hey Vsnap
When will you have more TOCs.

It would be nice to see a 150cc version. Great looking plane.

I am hoping to get some in by the 28th. We will see if it pans out. The engine is gaining recognition as it is a stump puller. Also video on my site with the Yak is using the 3MM 53cc engine. 3 bearings and 2 rings on the piston makes for a smooth engine with plenty of compression for a good life span. This plane on a normal electrical set up should come in around 17lbs with weight variances. Blackbird did an awesome job on his electrical system and will be able to use it in much larger planes when the time comes.
Price goes up on the yaks Feb 15th, and I am building a list for toledo deliveries.
Fly hard
Scott

I see no reason a DL won't work just fine, after all I am using one in mine. I just have no experience with all these lightweight 50cc motors out there and a million years ago (seems like!) this plane would have gotten a G62 !!
Most everyone who has spoke about the DL say it makes at least as much power as the DA does and most say it makes more.
And everyone that has a DA and a 17lb plus plane says it pulls it just fine.
