I think if that is the motor you got....have at it.
Just realize the wings and fuse were not made for that much power/vibration. Keep the straightline speeds down and you'll have a killer plane for a long time.

No, my scales said 28lbs and some change. The last plane this engine was in weighted in at 32lbs and the plane was a hoot. Dennis

Wow! a 120 and Nimh's???? I think there is at least one other H9 260 out there with a 120 on it, but you might be able to claim the title of "the only H9 260 over 30 pounds". I have heard of guys getting down to 25-25.5 pounds with a DA and stock muffs and minimal equipment, so you actually migh be looking at 29 pounds, therebouts - no feather, but the 2,000 squares should be able to handle it...I hope you know how to control that left stick!

Well, its time to start this thread back up!!! Found out today the airplane will be shipped TODAY to my builder so hopefully when he gets it tomorrow or Thursday he can start putting up some pictures of it. If at all possible I am going to try and keep it under 30lbs but if not it'll still fly perfect. Got to get it and start gutting the Cap 580.

Thanks for the idea but I am a loyal customer to Mac Hodges even if I have to wait a little while for what I need.

I remember that. The rudder locked up in full deflection on me in flight way down on the left end of the field. I was doing rudder turns until I figured out what I needed to do. I knife edged back to the field and started to try and figure out how in the hell am I going to land this airplane. Well I did a couple of rudder circles and then got the balls up to try and land. Well I started to turn it in perfect and at about 10ft off the runway I chopped the throttle to try and land it. Well I totally forgot that the fully deflected rudder acts as a huge airbrake and the plane just lost all airspeed before I could do anything and nose dived at a forty five degree angle into the runway and split in half. Some how the pulley popped off and I guess cables wrapped around something to keep in full deflection. None the less I was pissed because Atlanta Huckfest was the very next weekend. Got the plane to John the very next day (Sunday) and he called me the next day in the evening telling my plane was back together. I couldnt believe it, I actually didnt believe it until he sent me those pics. We picked up the plane on Thursday and flew it Friday morning at the Huckfest. Nothing changed on the plane, no trimming, no nothing to do. Flew just like it had. Did a couple of rolls and loops and brought it down on the deck with a huge smile on my face. Well, enough of the big Cap, its fixin to be building time on the 260. So folks please dont ask John to many questions about his building, he has my plane to finish by next weekend. Can he do it??? We'll see.
Nah, I have all the faith he will have it done in probably a few days. A few days after I get him all the equipment though.
