Nice plane but the color selection sucks. Might want to wait for the next color schemes or try to get a white one and paint it yourself. I have a 2.6m and I notice that it takes 4 more hours to complete the 2.1 than it does the 2.6

Set it on the wing tube and adjust according to your taste. It flies very nicely. We have had ours flying since Nov. 08 and very happy with it aside from the horribly crappy landing gear mounting. It will not take to many bad landings and you will then be rebuilding it.
If anything, err on the nosehevy side to start with, that way, your landing will be a bit easier and not have a tendency to stall just before landing touchdown. |

I have been flying the Yak since Aug 2008 and it flies well. However, the landing gear is really really stiff and the fastening will crack if you are flying on a "bumpy" grass field even if you are doing rather good landings.
Put the CG at the front mark, a little nos heavy, as previous recommended. This will make the landings a little easier especially if you have a head wind, the Yak is floating out like a foamy at the landings. |

The composites are awesome for simple maintenance...however...in this size class...other planes fly much better and for less money. Which ones fly better...well...most of them...Composites in this size range just dont do as well as the others. Yep...Im ready for those of you who own these to say otherwise. I have owned and flown the compy 2x2 and 2.12 m airplanes...and while I dont dislike them...there are much better choices out there. If I had to pick one...I would go with the original 2x2 extra...With a ZDZ50 and tuned pipe...you can hand launch it...but it still does not fly as well as the EF 88" extra. The amount of effort in building the little compys is more than its worth too. Come on...why is the firewall not already mounted in this plane.

By the way, I have the elevator and ailerons settings according to the manual on low rate.
It is also good to put in some reinforcement "ribs" across the canopy, this will reduce the vibration when the engine is at idle. You could see the "ribs" on the attached picture of my red and yellow Yak. I am sure you will have a nice Sunday. |

Hey Mannyh, I set my CG approx 15mm back from the suggested measurement of 160mm, that put it at 145mm forwards of the trailing wing tip, balanced is perfect for me. and it lands like a dream too, I've had approx 10 flights now and it only gets better every flight.
cheers |
