Hey Guys
I thought that i'd sign up on FlyingGiants today, and this is mainly just to introduce myself.. Antony Cox, 14, Wellington. As some of you might know ive been on the darkside (meaning free-flight). And im really getting into this class of flying. Ive really only just started with the aerobatics but im getting the hang of it quite well, mainly thanks to Realflight G3.5. (i made a video of me flying a Comp-arf 260 if anyones interested). And im happily flying the simple moves, and am also confident at prop hanging most planes, 4-point rolls, harriers etc. But am only still learning ![]() So far my actual flying has been electric. Ive got a Frakar, Great-Planes YAK-54, edge 540.. And for my birthday (14 days away ) im getting Marcus Sargent's Fliton Edge, which is a real privllege =]. I also have a cheap chinese, reasonablly small Extra. So yeah, you'll be seing me sure enough at some events soon ![]() Look foward to hearing from you guys Cheers Antony |

Giday Antony. Your edge is boxed up almost ready to be shipped. I hope it is as good to you as it was to me. It's a MASSIVE box, you could smuggle an average sized teenager to Mozambique. I'm doing the freight through the model shop down here at commercial rates, which should save some money.
Marcus 'Sarge' Sargent aka Poster Boy.

Gidday, Antony.
Good to hear you're joining us, and by the sounds of it you will be moving on from winning all the free-flight awards, to taking away all the aerobatics awards ![]() Marcus' Edge is a nice piece of kit. You've got a great deal there and great reliable model. Look forward to seeing you at future events. Alex

LOL .... the dark side !
Hey Coxy, you need to hook up with a few Wellington guys who are into Aerobatics. Ian Hill & Rodney Ford. Not sure where Ian flys, but I know that Rodney flys up at the Wairarapa club. When your old man goes up that way for Freeflight, get him to drop you off on the way past ! There are probably enough guys down that end of the country now that a club could have a go at a Sportsman Aerobatics comp, or Basic IMAC. Cher Bogan |

Hi Antony,
Great to see you looking at getting into aerobatics. There are few guys in the Wellington and Kapiti Clubs that are aerobatic capable who can assist. I certainly will help where I can. You just have to get out there and fly. Wellington has an aerobatic comp usually based on two flights of the IMAC basic schedule on their event calendar which attracts about six to eight flyers willing to have a go. Not much practice is done before hand which makes for interesting results. I mainly fly at Kapiti late afternoon or if the weekend weather is looking to be rough at Trentham Saturday or Sunday mornings and usually flying some of the schedules if the air is free of trainers and sport planes. Have yet to catch up with Rodney Ford over at the Wairarapa. Looking forward to seeing you at the field or at our club meeting. Ian Hill Last edited by hilli; 02-08-2008 at 01:14 AM. |

Hi Rod,
Sounds good to me, I will forward contact details. I fly most weekends so it is just a matter of heading for the WRF on the day. As a club Wgtn did a couple of visits to WRF about five years ago which was fun. Cheers Ian

Hi Nick, Welcome to the site!
All the info for the wings badge programme are available on the nzmaa website: http://nzmaa.org.nz/manuals/Wings.pdf It is pretty simple really, so long as you can fly safely and can demonstrate the correct procedures you shouldn't have a problem getting your wings. Hi to all the NZ fliers - I am a regular member of the thread for south africans and awesome to see this thread of you guys. A mate of mine is the Large Scale delegate and south african large scale champ and is considering imagrating to your great country and as he only has access to email and not to the web from work, asked if there are any LS guys who he can contact by email to discuss what flying is like over there.
