JAX,

What manufacture are the twisted exstensions?

And the MPI Miracle Switches, have you had success with them in them past?

ZZ,

TroyBuilt makes the extensions although I'm thinking about eliminating some of the connection points and using solder joints and heat shrink tubing but I'm hesitant about taking the servos back out. They use wood screws and the screws aren't going to hold if I keep backing them out. Also dont know why I even have to use twisted wire since you dont need that for 2.4 ghz systems.

As far as the miricle switches go, I think anything else like one of those central connection modules would be overkill for this bird. I guess as long as I'm getting adequate voltage to the servos then they will work OK.

OK I'm making headway but slowly (my first large scale build). Some of the stuff that is common sense to you guys isn't so obvious to me. However, I'm learning as I go:

This is a pic of my engine box and servo install. I coated the box with epoxy and reinforced my engine mount holes with washers. I didn't want engine vibration to pull the nuts through that thin ply.

I put a servo on top of the engine box for the choke. I'm using the DX7 radio so I barely have enough channels for everything. Gonna have to use the landing gear channel for the choke.

Looks great so far! Have you positioned the gas-tank where it is in the picture?

If you havent done it already, I like to run wood screws in, back them out and wick some thin CA into the threads to harden them up.

Can't wait to see this thing.

Thanks guys. Got some more pics comming. I have the RX and all the servos installed. I programmed the choke and throttle servos so I could button up the engine box. I'm have some problems understanding how to program my DX-7 radio. I only have seven channels so I have to do some mixing. Here's what I had in mind

MASTER CH SLAVE CH

ELEVATOR AUX 2
AILERON AUX 1

No problem mixing the elevator with aux 2 but when I try to program the aileron to aux 1 the transmitter display wont show an "aux 1". So I'm at a stopping point there. In the mean time I'm going to finish programming the center/end points
for the rest of the servos. Also, the kit came with a tail wheel but no linkage. I have one on order from aerobatics.com

OK I found the solution to my programming problems:
Here it is if anyone is having similar issues:

This guy knows his stuff. Just playing around with the radio last night, I was able to get close to what he is saying to do.

So here's my final channel assignment:

Throttle - Throttle (no $h&T)
Left aileron - Aileron
Right Aileron - aux1 (flap switch set to inh)
Right ele - ele
Left ele - aux2 (switch inhibited)
Choke - Gear Switch

You have to inhibit the aux 2 and flap switch so you dont inadvertantly disable one side of you elevator or ailerons while in flight by accidently bumping a toggle switch.

I almost bought one of these in 30% because I have a thing for 260's. Since I went with a Yak this time I was thinking this very same plane for the next one. How do you like the fit and finish etc.?
Looks pretty good from here !
