Default Time For The 2008 Great Planes E-Fest!!

Getting over the trauma of Wednesday's poll, it's time to celebrate a VERY cool weekend ahead of us!

Folks, one of the most fun times of the electric winter modeling season is here! The Great Planes E-Fest! This annual event takes place in the modeling center of the universe - Champaigne, Illinois. The town that is home to two of the largest distributors in the US is also home to one of the sickest indoor flying venues around - the U of I Armory. This indoor track has ample room to house the estimated 300 pilots who will be in attendance this year, and will showcase some of the best pilots from around the world who gather for a weekend of good times, and camaraderie!

And what's more, our friends at GP are notorious for dropping new product bombshells at their homecoming event, like the MAJOR announcement and introduction of 6EX 2.4 last year. Are the stars aligned for something even more amazing at the 2008 E-Fest? We'll know shortly, and rest assured, you'll hear about it on FlyingGiants, first!

Stay tuned, we've got great coverage coming from all the action of the event, throughout the weekend! Got photos or video? Upload 'em to this thread! Also, keep an eye out for your FG friends! There will be a pile of the regulars in attendance who would love to meet you!

Have a GREAT weekend & thanks GP for bringing the vibe to the hobby!!

Are they going to have the Mini-Cox racing event again? If so, I hope Frank once again narrates... LOL!

Earlier this week I received a package from Hobbico with a new foamy in it. I will be bringing it to E-Fest. It is called the Pluma Biplane. The fuse was already assembled so all that was involved was gluing on the wings and stab and installing my gear. I used Futaba 3114 servos, a Hacker a20-50s motor, and FlightPower 350 3 cell Batts.I did the maiden last night at the local gym and it flys really nice. Very straight and very axial on the rollers. It has crazy elevator and rudder authority for 3D. Here are some pics we took last night

Mark,

Nice plane. I like the way the air brakes are attached. I might add them to my Divo. The gym we fly in is very small, about a 1/2 size basketball court. With 4 goals dropped down it does not leave a lot of room. The brakes should really help to slow it down.

We have at least one member of our club coming to E-fest this year. I am sure he will have a great time.

You and Andrew be careful.. The weather's calmed down here at least. Maybe you won't run into too much a hassle.
