Default SM Engine Kill Switch

I used the SM engine kill switch( http://www.smservices.net/acatalog/L...del_Units.html ) on my model and i saw that when the switch is on,when i move the sticks, sometimes the switch is turned off automatically for a moment and then it is turned on again!!
I use a system on 40MHz...Is this the reason??
I tried on different channels but the problem still exists!!
Thank You..

Never seen that switch before but the only thing I can think of is maybe you have a mix or something inadvertently programmed into your radio.

But to start off with some information.

What radio do you have.
What power system (batteries) do you have

Maybe a photo of your setup so someone can help you out here.

What kind of radio and what switch is it assigned to? You may need to raise your atv on that channel to get it to work properly.

Although it isn't what you are experiencing, you might want to know about it.

They are sensitive to vibration, IIRC they use something called "solid state relays"(or something close to that), so soft mount is a must.

Some swear by them and other don't want to touch them, you can most likely find more detailed information on UK modeling forums.

I used the gear channel to set it up when I tried it, no problems, although I never used it on an model I flew, due to the above reason.

I had it on a foam but....
The problem still exists when i use only the switch(all servos are disconnected)..
There is no mixes..
I tried it out from model with the biggest distance between receiver and switch!
I have a powerbox digi-switch with a lipo 2200 so there is no power problem..
I tried everything on EPA(ATV) form 0% to 125%..
I have a Hitec eclipse 7 with QPCM receiver!!

Hi Vasilis,

When you stir both sticks you are changing the values of 4 channels at once and this can have the effect of expanding and contracting the frame of the servo signals (on some RC equipment more then others). It's likely that the frame rate is expanding or contracting slightly beyond the programmed limits of the kill switch and this is what causes the switch to turn off until you release the sticks and the signal stabilises once again.

I only know this as I recently designed a kill switch and this was one of the early issues I discovered and had to overcome in software. It's obviously hard to test a product with every combination of equipment in use around the world and there is some variation in what constitutes a standard servo signal.

So my guess is that your RC gear is incompatible with this particular switch.

Not a good outcome although it's probably good that you have noticed it now instead of having problems with dead sticks or what may seem like PCM hits in flight. You should definately report this to the kill switch manufacturer as they may be able to help and should at leat appreciate the feedback.

Cheers
Jeremy

I think that you are right RH1NO...
I have already refer the problem to manufacturer and they told me that they can change the switch, but they didn't tell me anything like what you said me...
I will refer them this possibility...If there is a solution,it's OK..If not i'll use a servo choke for now and later i'll take an optical switch(like smartfly)
