Default Servos and power system

OK everyone I need some input. I was going to order 8711s for my 35% extra 260 H9. When I was at the hobby store one of our know it alls was there. He said not to use 8711s because they are power hungry and I wouldnt be able to keep batteries charged. I will be running spektrum radio and reciever and am wondering about power systems and servos? What should I run or what does everyone recommend. This is my first giant so be gentle.

If it were me it would be A smart-Fly Power Expander with A123s and a pin failsafe switch..

8711s can be power hungry... however with A123s around now there is no need to worry.

If you are going to run JR/Spektrum 2.4, then run the new AR9100 High Power reciever with two A123's or the Spektrum Nimh's at 6.0v. You shouldn't have any problem.

If you fly extreme than I would go with 2, Imac style and smooth flying go with 1.
